kenhodgejr
I think Gaudette will be good enough to be our 3rd or 4th line center next season.

Simon Gagner was a very good player until injuries shortened his career. Ahh, a sarcastic response to my grammatical error. Gotcha.

Popular Post SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
In other news... Gaudette and the Huskies are currently playing against New Hampshire. Northeastern is down 1-0 after one. You can watch this game, but if you don’t have ESPN3, you’ll need to stream via one of the services. And off topic, “on hockey dot tv” is just a random string of words (I promise you it’s not the name of website where you can stream pretty much every hockey game). EDIT: Stevens ties the game 1-1 (Sikura assist). Gaudette was involved in the play as he went to the net and created some decoy/distraction presence that drew one defender and also forced the goalie to not challenge the shooter. Gaudette has been active and looking dangerous. Has had maybe 4-5 good looks so far, getting off some good shots from the high slot and in the left FO circle, but the NH goalie has handled them so far (albeit with a little trouble, just getting enough of a piece of the puck, and also spilling some rebounds). Really impressed by Gaudette’s PK work. Closes space really fast. Impressive quick skating bursts. Gets in the lanes, pressures puck carriers, disrupts, and when he steals the puck he’s quickly thinking counter attack and looking for the shortie. I very rarely log in and I hardly ever post since I joined this forum, but I’ve got to say SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME you and a small handful of posters have an admirable and on point view of hockey, at all levels, and continuously keep the posts focused, informative and up-to-date. Therefore I was compelled to log in to say thank you for the great work, especially for those of us that cringe at off point and irrelevant argumentative type posts. You have a keen eye for analyzing talent and relating it on here. I’d like to know your opinion in regards to mine about a Gaudette, someone I see as the closest ‘meat and potatoes, complete 200’ player’ that’s comparable in style somewhat to Horvat, talent wise just a step behind, (I see Horvat as 2C and Gaudette as 3C), including leadership qualities and maturity. From reading other posts I’d think most others would feel I’m overrating him, but I can see some things in his play on the ice, his actions between whistles, on the bench...just seems like a leader with a skill set, not unlike Bo...thoughts? 3 2 1

Cheers for the kind words. You won’t hear much argument from me re: Gaudette. While I like to try to be conservative and not always feed the hype machine, I can’t help but see a future middle 6 forward in Gaudette. Everything you’ve said rings true. Not overrating him IMO. 200 ft player, leader on and off the ice, good size, gritty presence, compete level off the charts, good motor, really dangerous shooter, especially on PP, real solid, aggressive PKer, good skater, strong on draws, honestly it just goes on an on. Maybe the tools aren’t elite but they’re all very good. 1 2

Yeah, that's definitely a good comparison, especially from a Vancouver perspective. Obviously that's on the high end of the range you might predict for Gaudette (at least at this point in time), but it's very possible. As for tonight's game, I had to stop watching to go take care of some family business, so missed the third period. Finished 1-1. The UNH goalie (I forget his name) was first star, stopping 40/41. Gaudette had 5 shots on goal and a bunch of other attempts that went wide or got blocked. Broke his stick on one chance that might have otherwise sealed the win. 1

86Viking
Zack aston Reese just got a call up from the pens. He was hobey baker finalist last year and almost 2ppg. Around .7ish in the AHL this year. Curious to see how long of a look he gets with Sheary out, but I would expect Reese and Gaudette to be fairly compareable players? I know Gaudette is slightly younger and will not have as hard of a time making the nhl as our team not near as deep upfront as pittsburgh.
