Hoosierdaddy
I'd say that this draft saw the Canucks total prospect group fall in relation to the rest of the league. Does anyone want to verify that? Thanks. Because we need to solicit more negative posters.

JamesB
After acquiring a few good players in this year draft, I was wondering what the thought of the people of CDC is regarding our top prospects and where they rank. IMO ...: I was wondering the same thing. The OP list is pretty reasonable. Here is my list (and I am going to count any player who did not make the team as a regular last year except that I won't include Markstrom). Also, there are two possible questions we could ask. One question is who will be the best player eventually. Another is who is likely to contribute the most to the Canucks in the next two or three years. I will answer the first question and here is my best guess: 1. Virtanen (as a # 6 pick he should be, but I am not at all certain.) 2. Sven Baertschi (high skill forward, fairly high first round pick, but not certain.) 3. Jared McCann (low first rounder who has a good all-around game. Will at least play 3C in the NHL). 4. Thatcher Demko (goalies are tricky but he looks good). 5. Brock Boeser (looks like a solid low first round pick). 6. Adam Clendening (good skills but not big or physical or fast.) 7. Cole Cassels (great progress for a third round pick, can play 3C or 4C in the NHL eventually) 8. Frank Corrado (not much size or physicality and not much offence, but solid defensively) 9. Andrey Pedan (like his size and toughness) 10. Grenier, Gaunce, Shinkaruk (tied). Not a lock than any of these guys becomes an NHL regular but chances are good that at least one will and maybe all three.

Bertorama
Drafted players by the Canucks (minus Horvat) under 24, rankings based on upside. 1: Shinkaruk 2: Virtanen 3: McCann 4: Demko 5: Cassels 6: Boeser 7: Gaunce 8: Grenier 9: Corrado 10: Jasek (he may be a huge steal) Honourable mentions Ben Hutton Jordan Subban Still missing a top end defensive prospect. nothing was really available at 23, thats why i was happy with Boeser instead of a defenceman Best Post so far. Thank you for getting Hunter up on your list. Hope he has a great camp! Not sure On Demko everything else .....dido

Jaku
You guys think this is a top 10 prospect pool in the league? Top 5 even? No. I just think this pool lacks the upside for top end talent. I believe Virtanen will be a top line winger, but other than that... Demko will be a starter one day, McCann maybe a top 6 forward... I'd say about middle of the pack, average prospect pool. Realtor Rod
I think we have a mediocre prospect pool. 16th, but up from mid 20s a few years ago. Add Horvat to that list as well.
