New York Islanders Pre-FA Roster

Michael Dal Colle - John Tavares - Kyle Okposo

Jaden Schwartz - Frans Nielsen - Nick Foligno

Brock Nelson - ??????? - Steve Downie

Matt Martin - Casey Cizikas - Jordan Caron

????? - Alex Pietrangelo

Johnny Boychuk - Nick Leddy

Ryan Pulock - Calvin De Haan

Ex. Thomas Hickey

Scott Mayfield

Jaroslav Halak

Connor Hellebuyck

Kulemin is a 100% buyout at this rate, given my cap situation, and there is a high possibility that Grabovski will follow suit, as he simply doesn't fit for the 3rd-line role, and for cap purposes it will likely need to occur as well. Hellebuyck will be 23 I believe this season, so he'll get the backup role most likely on the roster. I'm not too sure who I want beside Pietrangelo yet, but the Boychuk-Leddy pairing seemed to work for the most part. Unsure if I want to split them up.

Happy to get Sam Bennett and Erich Rhoemer in return for the 1st overall pick and Adam Erne. Although Salman Kane may end up being the best player in the trade, I feel that I got both quality and quantity in Bennett and Rhoemer, who both have top line potential and likely won't be anything less than top 6 forwards. Best of luck to Kane and Erne in their future with Calgary.

"The minimum amount of players you can have on your roster is 20."

Does this mean we don't have to have the extra players up??

Zach Parise - Mikko Koivu - Jason Pominville
Drew Stafford - Valtteri Filppula - Charlie Coyle
Erik Haula - Mikael Granlund - Nino Niederreiter
???? - Michael Keranen - Patrick Dwyer

Ryan Suter -Jonas Brodin
Marco Scandella - Christian Folin
Matt Dumba - Alex Tuch

Devan Dubnyk
Darcy Kuemper

Currently what I'm sitting at. I haven't got a ton of cap space, so I'll need to maybe sign another LW, or maybe my LW I just picked, but I think that's a heftier price.

"For simplicity/saving time, if your prospect has no contract, I will give them a default one based on the following;

  • 1st - 5th overall picks: 3.75 million

  • 6th - 9th overall picks: 2.75 million

  • 10th - 15th overall picks: 1.75 million

  • 16th - 30th overall picks: 1.05 million

  • 31st - 120th overall picks: .875 million"

So he'd be making 2.75 right out of draft? :(

Trade talks for pick 32 heating up...

Looking for a defensive prospect and a later 2nd round pick in return

If the 2nd is near the end of the 2nd round I'd want a better defensive prospect coming back, If it's near the beginning I'll take a lesser defensive prospect back

2016 Draft Recap:

Round 1 (11-20)

11. Florida - Kai Lung: 1st/2nd Line LW who has amazing offensive skill. His hands and vision on the ice are at an elite level. The biggest wildcard in the draft any many scouts aren't sure if he can make the jump to the show. His small frame will make it easy for big defense men to push him off the puck. Okay pick for Florida, this could either be a really good for there franchise or a big waste of time, but hopefully he successed in the league because he would be a fun player too watch.

12. San Jose - Roger Olsson: top 4 d-man who is a true all-round dman with no real flaws to his game. He plays offence just as good as he plays defense, he is big and very agile can get back in the play if he gets caught. Great pick for San Jose, a safe pick for San Jose because he can jump into the team in 2 seasons. He still needs to learn how to play at a high level so AHL next season is his best bet.

13. Carolina - Niklas Eld: 2nd Line C who has really good defensive skills can read plays and break up passes on D, and his offense isn't that bad he can shoot and is a good passer but not known for his offense. His defense is his stand out skill. A good pick for Carolina, He will need to step up his offensive game if he wants to become a top-level Center in the league.

14. Winnipeg - Valeri Pavlov: Top 6 Fwd who has really smooth and quick skating, one of the fastest in the draft. He is good at both sides of the ice but slightly better on offense because he blows by defense men on offensive rushes. The main problem is that he is very selfish, he likes to carry the puck alot and makes one too many moves. Good pick for Winnipeg, Now they have 2 speedy wingers who they drafted this year and will be 2 great additions to there team for there future. Pavlov may need 2-3 seasons in the AHL for him to be ready for the NHL because of his relatively small frame at 5'11 173 pounds.

15. Dallas - Mathew Stevenson: 2nd Line C who has really good offensive skills and tremendous skating skills. Stevenson also has a great shot projected to get 25-30 goals when in his prime. He isn't the best Defense man but he puts 110% every shift. Great pick for Dallas, He will add some more offense to an already high end offensive team.

16. Anaheim - Arturo Huff: Top 6 Fwd who is really big standing at 6'5 and 220 he plays a big powerforward role who gets to the front of the net and battles in the corners for the puck. He is an all-round good player with great offensive and defensive zone skills. The main problem with Huff is that he is very inconsistent and will go on cold and hot streaks, but when on his game he is unstoppable. Great pick for Anaheim, he will add more size to a very skilled group in Anaheim.

17. Vancouver - Armas Heikki: 2nd Line LW who is a true 2-way player he plays very good hockey at both sides of the ice with some great speed. He is really known for his silky smooth mitts and knows how to read the play very well. Biggest down side to him is that he isn't really excited to play in the NHL, he is very quite and won't talk to much in the room with the boys. Good pick for Vancouver, if they can put him with some physical guys to play with on his line he should be a good player in the NHL he just nees 1-2 seasons in the AHL first.

18. Montreal - Samuel Morin: Top 4 D-man who is really big standing at 6'6 and 203. Morin really plays good shutdown D and makes a great first breakout pass out of the zone. Morin also has a hard and accurate slap-shot which really adds to his talents. Morin needs to add more muscle and play with more grit to become a top D-man in the NHL. Great pick for Montreal, Morin will really add a big presence to Montreal's defense and will be good in the future. He may need 1-2 seasons in the AHL before becoming a NHL player.

19. Washington - Matteus Mardh: Top 9 Fwd who has a really good at both sides of the ice no real stand out ability other than his above average hockey I.Q, Mardh is a true 200 foot player who isn't great but he is good. Expect him to be a solid player in the NHL in years too come. Good pick for Washington, they dont need too many more superstars in Washington but adding a key player like Mardh really helps them at both sides of the ice.

20. Calgary - Evgeny Svechnikov: 2nd Line LW who is pretty big ar 6'3 and 204, he is a really smooth skater. Svechnikov's awareness in the offensive zone is great he knows where to be in the zone to set himself up for a nice one-timer or a quick shot on goal. He defense isn't that good on defense bt when you have offensive skills like Svevhnikov its over shadows that. Good pick for Calgary, Svechnikov may need a couple seasons in the AHL before going to the NHL, but when he is ready he will be a great sniper for Calgary.

I will try to get 21-30 out tmrw. Also thanks for the feedback on (1-10) really motivated me to do this. Thanks guys i appreciate that.
