Patrick Kane
Michael Landesberg now interviews highly respected and experienced GM - OurTimeToShine (aka OTIS) OTIS is one of the oldest members in fantasy hockeys, participating in leagues for over 7 years, and winning championships in many different leagues. Now he brings his talents to Ottawa, as they chase the Stanley Cup. ML: What are your thoughts on RGMG: The Sim thus far?OTIS: It's a special league. The parity and competitiveness is unparalleled. It all starts from the top and the commissioners office, when there is that kind of commitment in only motivates the GM's more and creates excitement throughout. --ML: What made the Ottawa Senators so successful last season?OTIS: Firstly you have to give big ups to Craig Anderson with the job he did. He was a rock back there every night and always gave us a chance to win. That being said, from day one we essentially gave the keys to our young core and said "run with it". When you have a player like Erik Karlsson you always have to start there. We want to play a quick transition game, and lucky for us, no one can do that like Erik. We consistently utilized our speed and skill on both sides of the puck and forced teams into mistakes that often led to a lot of our offense. Mark Stone was a huge player for us and Turris continued to grow as a leader. --ML: You acquired veteran sniper Patrick Marleau this season. Can you explain why?OTIS: Our primary goal this off-season was to add a top-6 left wing with some experience. It was made clear to us in our ECF series with the Lightning that we needed to add more elite scoring to our top-6. We immediately identified Patrick as a main target. Not many players have been so consistent with their production like Patty has. His experience, skill, speed and scoring ability has been the perfect fit for us, and Patrick has found chemistry and produced with both Turris and Zibanejad. We are very excited with how this acquisition has panned out for us. --ML: You haven't made many trades or signings compared to other GM's, but do any of them stick out that you liked the most?OTIS: I think you have to look first all to Patrick Marleau as previously discussed. To add to that, despite his early season struggles, Ryan O'Reilly has been on a tear after being given a shot on the top-line and it looks like we've finally found a good fit for all of our players in our top-6. Adding Patrick and Ryan without moving any key pieces up front has really given us a lot of different options to work with offensively which will be a huge asset come playoff time. --ML: If you could add one player to your roster from any team in the NHL, who would you add?OTIS: PK Subban. I don't think any team would stand a chance to keep the puck our of their net when you can have Erik and PK out there. If there was one concern about our current roster it would be the lack of another legitimate defenseman and it doesn't get any better than PK. (other than Erik) --ML: Rapid fire round (short answers), who's going to win the cup (other than yourself?):OTIS: Islanders. They've got elite players at every position. --ML: Will the Rangers claw back into the playoffs?OTIS: I don't think they have the offensive talent but with Lundqvist you're in every game. --ML: Arizona Coyotes, Nashville Predators - the better team?OTIS: Coyotes. They exemplify the meaning of a team. --ML: Who has the best contract on your team?OTIS: Can't go wrong with either Turris or Stone both producing first liners for $3.5M. --ML: Would you trade Stone, Ceci, 1st for the upcoming 1st overall pick? (Artem Lazarev)OTIS: No. Mark and Cody are young core pieces that we expect to be a huge part of our organization for years. We won't give that up for a gamble. --ML: Will Erik Karlsson hit 65 points in RGMG ever?OTIS: Yes. This year and many more to come. --ML: And finally, who is your favorite team to play?OTIS: Canucks. GM Intoewsables and I have a very competitive relationship and it is always a special bringing the team back to your hometown and competing against the team you grew up rooting for. --ML: Thank you OTIS for the interview, good luck to you in the season, hope to see you deep in the playoffs.OTIS: Thank you ML. We will see you there in May.
Patrick Kane
Michael Landesberg FINAL interview, will be with the cup champion, BM24! BM24 also is an old fantasy hockey member, who went MIA from CDC for a couple years (to HFBoards). He saw PK's league, and made his comeback, and his now an active member of the fantasy hockey league community. ML: What are your thoughts on RGMG: The Sim thus far?BM: Very well run league, easily one of the best on CDC. The automated sheets along with the look of them are impeccable - it has revolutionized games to come in the future. --ML: You won the cup last year. Tyler Johnson won the Conn Smythe. Could you give your thoughts on that?BM: Very happy to win the Cup last year after taking over the General Manager's role. We weren't very active trade-wise, but in terms of line changes, I'd bet we were the top team in that category, and that is ultimately what helped win the Cup. Tyler Johnson was unreal - stepped up huge with Kucherov to pick up a slumping Stamkos. Without Johnson, we are in tough to make it out of the first round. --ML: You managed to have a better team on paper than last year, despite being tight to the cap. How did you do this?BM: We had some high cap hit players that we felt weren't playing to their capabilities, and we managed to go out and replace those positions with multiple players that had the same caphit. It will be the same this upcoming offseason - going to be a lot of changes. --ML: What is the best trade/signing you have made thus far?BM: I would have to say the addition of Jordan Eberle. Jordan was a key player in last years Regular Season that helped catapult us to a division win, and therefore home ice. We gave up some young talents, but the make of our roster gave us the ability to do that. Jordan will be a key player for years to come. --ML: If you could add one player to your roster from any team in the NHL, who would you add?BM: Erik Karlsson. Such a great talent. He would fit with the make of our lineup it would almost be unfair for the rest of the league. His speed, skill and playmaking would boost our top six into almost unmatched territory. --ML: Rapid fire round (short answers), who's going to win the cup (other than yourself?):BM: Washington. Got off to an incredible start, and I expect them to be hot for the majority of the year. --ML: Will the Red Wings claw back into the playoffs?BM: I believe so. If they can snag a defender, they will be fine. --ML: Winnipeg or Calagry - the brighter future?BM: Calgary. Already atop of the standings and their young players are contributing. --ML: Best bottom 6 forward on your team?BM: Cedric Paquette. Stepping up huge in the 3C role. --ML: Would you trade Eberle, Johnson, 1st for the upcoming 1st overall pick? (Artem Lazarev)BM: I would think about it. It would help us clear cap, and still stay competitive. --ML: Who will end up with more points, Nikita Kucherov or Steven Stamkos.BM: Kucherov. Will be top 3 in the NHL in goals too. --ML: And finally, who is your favorite team to play?BM: Washington. Division rival and a top team. --ML: Thank you BM for the interview, good luck to you, strong candidiate to win the cup again.BM: Hopefully see you in June.
