Cabbie-QA2.jpg

Cabral Richards (aka Cabbie) will be taking over as our interviewer, and makes his stop in Vancouver, interviewing Intoewsables!

large.png

"I love visiting Vancouver. The city is great, and so are the fans! Bit weird to not see guys like Kesler, Bieksa, Luongo and Burrows on the team, but Intoewsables has built a new, younger, and arguably better team!"

CABBIE: First let's get this out of the way... How are you liking RGMG???

INTOEWSABLES: It's been a blast so far. Ownership has allowed me to blow things up a little and make this "my team", and it's been an enjoyable experience for sure. As for the league itself, Patrick Kane has done an incredible job keeping this thing going at the rate it has.

--

CABBIE: What a turn around for Vancouver! No more guys like Luongo, Kesler, Bieksa, but you brought in many new faces. Could you touch on that?

INTOEWSABLES: When I took this job last year, it was widely known that the existing core was past its prime and the "window" had closed. The previous regime had already gotten the ball rolling on that which helped make things easier. It's hard to move on from popular players that have such a strong attachment to the community, especially after being one of the top teams in the league for a number of years, but that's the beauty of this sport. You can't stick with the same core for too long or you'll fall behind. Hopefully it's only a matter of time before this city falls in love with the new core.

--

CABBIE: Did you expect Pirri to have the season he did, and be the player he is today?

INTOEWSABLES: Not at all. We had Pirri penciled in as more of a stop-gap on our second line and hoped that he might grow into that role over the course of the season, but he completely shattered our expectations. If you told me he'd outscore the Sedins in less ice-time last season, I would have laughed you out of the room. It's nothing short of incredible.

--

CABBIE: What is your team lacking? What player would put your team over the top, and fit like a glove?

INTOEWSABLES: It's hard to say. I think we're a well-rounded team with a lot of depth right now. We're not so concerned with the player that will put us over the top now as we are with finding the players that will give us long-term success. The Sedins can't play forever and we'll need to replace that top-end talent when they move on. That's probably the one thing we need most.

--

CABBIE: The Sedins... So reliable over the years. Had a decent season last year, and doing great. Will they retire as Canucks or...?

INTOEWSABLES: We've had some discussions internally about moving them, but at the end of the day, there just wouldn't be a team out there willing to give us enough to make it worth our while. These guys are still incredible players and even better people, and I don't think you could find two more suitable candidates to mentor our young players. They're here for as long as they want to stay.

--

CABBIE: Was it hard parting ways with Radim Vrbata, who was so good last year, and is still a top 10 winger?

INTOEWSABLES: It's tough to justify moving any core players when you're sitting in a playoff spot, but we made a move that we felt set us up for long-term success. Players like Elias Lindholm and Jeff Skinner, in our eyes, have a better chance of being Radim Vrbata than Vrbata does in the next few years. In the end, I think both teams are happy with their returns and that's all that really matters.

--

CABBIE: If Henrik Sedin were to retire today, who would wear the 'C'?

INTOEWSABLES: Daniel? Haha. If they're retiring together, we'd have to give it a lot of thought. Our young guys are really maturing, and we'd want a captain to see us through for the next 5-10 years. I don't think I can pick one off the top of my head.

--

CABBIE: Stanley cup playoffs, Kulikov and Edler get injured... Do you think you could of beat Chicago with a healthy roster?

INTOEWSABLES: I don't like to sit around and complain about injuries because it sounds like sour grapes. Do I think we would have fared better with them in the lineup? Absolutely. Could we have won? Possibly. I don't want to take anything away from Chicago though, as they played a fantastic series themselves. We were just happy to get the experience for our young guys, and to come away with such a strong performance against a team like that.

--

CABBIE: Answer these ones quickly, who's going to win the cup (other than yourself?)

INTOEWSABLES: Oh boy. I thought Anaheim was the clear favourite last year and they ended up bowing out quite early. I could see them coming back with a chip on their shoulder this time around. New Jersey deserves some consideration for how hot they've been of late though. If they can keep it up the rest of the way, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be meeting them in the finals.
--

CABBIE: Henrik or Daniel?

INTOEWSABLES: Kate Upton or Emily Ratajkowski? How am I supposed to answer that? Haha.

--

CABBIE: Pirri - real deal or 1 hit wonder?

INTOEWSABLES: Depends if his agent is watching this. In all seriousness, I think he's proven so far that he's the real deal. He might not be a top-10 scorer, but he should be a first liner for years to come.

--

CABBIE: Canucks are making the playoffs - yes or no?

INTOEWSABLES: I sure hope so.

--

CABBIE: Ryan Kesler, Alex Burrows, Dan Hamhuis or Roberto Luongo - who would you bring back?

INTOEWSABLES: I still have a soft spot for Bobby Lu. I don't know where he'd fit in, but seeing him put on a Canucks sweater one more time would get to me.

8466141.jpg

--

CABBIE: If you had to pick one team in the league as your 'rival' who would it be?

INTOEWSABLES: I don't think we have a clear cut rival anymore. The Chicago rivalry has really died down over the last little while. I guess Calgary and Edmonton are our biggest rivals for geographical reasons. The playoffs are where true rivalries are born though. We'll have to start making some noise where it counts and then I'll get back to you.

--

CABBIE: Most valuable Canuck thus far in RGMG?

INTOEWSABLES: Brandon Pirri. No question about it. He's been the offensive spark this team has needed for years. Don't show this to his agent though. Seriously.
