bobby loocid dreamer
To VAN: Chris Kunitz, Scott Harrington, 2016 1st To PIT: Radim Vrbata, Dan Hamhuis Why for Pittsburgh? Pittsburgh is a thin team. Their two stars are not getting any younger but their window is still very much open. Getting a legitimate finisher on the wing for a much more friendly cap hit than Kessel. Also, with Ehrhoff and Martin off the books, they have a weak defensive core and overpaying for Green or Phaneuf is hardly an option. This trade buys them 30+ goals and gives them a top 4 defenseman with a steady, solid play. Pitt has a deep prospect pool on defense that they can afford to pillage a bit, and getting rid of Kunitz is a win. Why for Vancouver? Vancouver lands a very good defensive prospect, a 1st (which could be anywhere from 10 to 30), and a cap dump who is not too far removed from being a goodish player. You now have a replacement for Vrbata that can play in your middle 6.

bobby loocid dreamer
Never post again. Kunitz? Please. You have to pick up salary to make it work. A short term deal (2 years left) that wont hurt us long term is the perfect salary to take back.
billabong
It's better to deal vrbata at the deadline and trade a veteran with term on his contract now
hockeyguy1234
Van does that trade in a heartbeat. I don't know much about Scott Harrington but Kunitz is better than Vrbata plus we get a 1st. Losing Hamhuis hurts but we have to start the rebuild so he's going shortly anyways.
SaintPatrick33
Unless Harrington is a for-sure prospect, we lose this trade. The 1st will probably be a low 1st, we could get much more for Hammer at the deadline, same with Vrbata.

He could handle bottom pairing minutes this season and I can see him easily being a #2 guy. He is not Doughty but I put him in the same category as Ohlund in his prime.
