Matt Bartkowski New Canucks Defenseman

What does this guy bring...not tough..doesnt score..no goals in 131 games.. sure its a 1 years deal but dont we have some guys that accomplish this?

Low-risk stop cap move to bridge the gap between younger guys coming up. 1 year deal forces him to prove himself this year, right away. Benning knows him well, he's a transitional defensman much like Tanev, though not as good as Tanev. Could be a sh*t move, but the money isn't much and it's 1 year. Low-risk, potential for good reward.

Roster

Sedin Sedin Burrows

Baertschi Bonino Vrbata

Higgins Horvat Kassian

Dorsett Vey Hansen

Kenins Grenier

Edler Tanev

Hamhuis Corrado

Sbisa Clendening

Bartowski Weber

Not a bad lineup

Obviously the pairings will change but that's not terrible

Thats the worse dcore Ive seen in 10 years. This lineup was made to tank. not a bad thing

guys a turn-over king. lol this will ensure we come last place.

lol just heard on team 1040, he forgets were a guy is, he loses coverage, he is at most a 7th defenceman lol why the hell did we sign him?

should of signed Bo-Sang, fire Benning

Do you mean Ho-Sang? The young 2014 draft pick who was signed for 3 years by Garth Snow to NYI? If so, log off.

Great signing! Played 47 games 4 points, -6, is fit at under 200lbs, 27 years old, and had the 5th best Corsi for dmen, ahead of McQuaid!

He also had a low 49.1% zone starts so we know he is highly reliable defensively, and his lowish offensive totals are because he plays such an important shut down role. He also averaged 1:07 on the pk and 0:04 on the pp so he should contribute to our special teams.

Well done GMJB!!!

This is a good deal. Bartkowski is a cheap shot term plug with a bit of upside as he is still relatively young. If Clendening or Corrado can prove ready, Bartkowski can be swapped at the trade deadline or earlier for a 3rd or 4th rounder. There is a method to all of Bennings madness, but it takes a calm mind to understand it. On a broader statement, management must see the younger players getting closer as the moves recently made have a stop gap/movement friendly low risk feel.

You ought to be more careful saying things like this around here or one of the zealots will dump a multi-paragraph tirade about how much smarter they are than you are as a fan, and how those numpties in the office know everything about everything and are incapable of fouling it up.

That's because it's the cheapest d core we've had in ten years

The only real differance is Bieksa out bartkowski In

Bieksa was terrible and I mean terrible at clearing the front of the net, something that having big Bart will definitely benefit the d
