-Vintage Canuck-
Blues agree to terms with goalie Allen (2-year, 1st year: $2.2M, 2nd year: $2.5M): ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with goaltender Jake Allen. Allen, 24, led all rookie goaltenders with 22 wins (22-7-4) this past season, while recording a 2.28 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage. In addition, he tied a Blues rookie record with four shutouts while becoming just the second rookie goaltender in club history to post consecutive shutouts, on Oct. 30 vs. Anaheim and Nov. 4 vs. New Jersey (Ernie Wakely, 1969-70). Allen also logged 184:38 consecutive shutout minutes from Oct. 23 (third period vs. Vancouver) to Nov. 6 (third period vs. New Jersey), etching a new Blues rookie record. The 6-foot-3, 204-pound goaltender had a memorable 2015, tallying the National Hockey League’s (NHL) second-best record (11-2-2, .800), while sharing the League lead in goals against average (1.78) in the calendar year. To finish the regular season slate, Allen allowed two or fewer goals in eight consecutive games, including conceding only one in each of his final four starts. Allen made his postseason debut in Game 1 of the Blues’ first-round matchup with Minnesota and went on to post a 2-4 record along with a 2.20 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage in the series. Originally drafted by the Blues in the second round (34th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, the Fredericton, New Brunswick, native has accumulated a 31-11-4 record to go along with a 2.33 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and five shutouts in 52 career NHL appearances. http://blues.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=773770

Jägermeister
Great bridge deal. Allen is already a great 1A/1B, so the price on this contract is fantastic, and by the time this contract is up he should be ready to take on the full workload and will have proven himself enough to cash in big time. oldnews
2 x 2.35. 2.2 in 15/16, 2.5 in 16/17. The mainstay in an otherwise odd goaltender circus in St Louis. Will they finally respect Ellliott and let him play a tandem role?

Will they finally respect Ellliott and let him play a tandem role? I never understood why the blues traded Halak , the previous summer he stayed in NA for the first time instead of going home to europe , he worked hard on his game and the improvments in it and his performances were notable. To be a true contender they need a real no.1 starter IMO , something I do not think Eliiott is but Allen might grow into.
