He was skating like a washed up Jim Sandlak, and put up similar numbers. He didn't back check, lazy on line changes, he looked even worse then Kassian. If Benning is seriously interested in Lucic and signs him, it will mean like many of the fans, that no one has bothered to scout him since the cup win. If you look in the "Armchair GM" forum, I posted a few days ago that I predict on July 1, 2016, Benning will sign Lucic to a 7 year deal (the max length possible) for about $7 million a year. Sound ridiculous? Maybe. But that's what a bonafide top 6, 28 year old guy gets these days if you look around the league. Even if I am wrong, it will be maybe $6 million, but nothing less. Some people posted they would sign lucic for $5 million a year for 2 years... HA! Lucic would need to have the worst agent on earth to get a deal like that. Cocaine. It's a hell of a drug. Will free agents even want to come up here unless massive over payment knowing this team is years away from seriously contending? Realistically I see Lucic being signed, Hamhuis maybe extended, and a shot to get a guy like Brouwer to round out the top six. No way Chicago is that dumb to let Keith's buddy just walk. They will clear space to sign him and Kopitarzz not going anywhere either. That's 3 BC Boy Vets good as it gets really plus Virtanen assuming he beats out Shinkaruk, and Higgins and Jensen are traded by next summer. If we move the right amount of cap we can comfortably sign both. If looch doesn't resign with the Kings mid season I'm willing to bet he'll be a Canuck next year. Guy will definitely earn it by then. for UFA market, Voracek would be high on my list, young as balls... probably gets resigned unless he wants out of Philly.
