hockeygod77
are they going to lose another young developed player...benning in my eyes has this fallacy that he will build a cup team with new weaker juniors and few vets..i say he has poor choices but then again he should get a chance..but hey 40years plus in the hl still no cup..its not easy being a canuck fan.. Crackers
Didn't sign him, and he walked to test free agency. At this point 29 other teams are holding back too.
hatedkid666
Mathias is 27 years old, he's asking for too much money. He scored 18 goals and had 27 points last season and he doesn't play physical, he's not really worth resigning
mpt
He played well for 25 games scored 18 goals and disappeared every other game. Not worth more than 2.5 million
Wilbur
Didn't sign him, and he walked to test free agency. At this point 29 other teams are holding back too. So all the people saying he was worth a 2nd at the trade deadline and Benning screwed up royally were totally on point because Matthias is clearly wanted league wide. Yeah, it's quite difficult to procure high draft picks for players when nobody is offering them. But at CDC, that's just annoying details.
70seven
Matthias isnt a bad player, but the Canucks dont need him the 3rd line LW. Only way Id do this is if we traded Higgins for a pick and then signed Matthias to a one year deal, but ZERO interest in giving im any term whatsoever. The Canucsk need bottom 6 roster spots available over the next few year for young players to break into.... THe likes of Gaunce, Virtanen, Shinkaruk, Cassels, McCann could/should all be bottom 6 before top 6, and we need the roster space for them. Matthias had a good year last year, but Higgins is still a better player overall, and he'll likely be in that spot until a Gaunce, Kenins, Virtanen, or someone else is ready to take it away from him, which could be as early as pre season, but Id bet that the deadline is when Higgins gets moved in favor of youth. Are you going to sign a player that wants 2.5 million when 12 of his 18 goals were against Eastern teams . It would be great now if we played in the Eastern Conference but we don't. When did Benning ever say he was going to build a cup team with a few JR along with a few Vets? He said he was going to get the Vets to mentor the young players like Dorsett did with Horvat and Kenins on work ethics and what it takes to get to the next level. But never once did he say that he was going try and win a cup that way. Hey at least Benning is willing to bring in youth into the line up and let them play meaningful mins. But Jack to some it's easy when you have NHL 15 . When your the Gm and the other team's GM is basically a computer.

Where are all these people from? If I remember correctly, the mood on here is we arent going to be sellers at the deadline because we are playoff bound. goblix
Matthias was one of the more frustrating canucks, we saw him play an amazing style of game prior to when he got hit in the head. After that he played more conservative and it his production fell off. I'd rather not have him back, plus too much $$$
