Oregon allowing 15-year-olds to get state-subsidized sex-change operations

Couple more things i see on the topic id like to add to.

1. (Transsexualism is a choice) Transsexualism is not a choice in most cases. Usually symptoms show up LONG before the patient is worried about "Figuring out who they are". Signs start showing well before any sort of puberty or sexual attraction. They start before society says anything about what boys or girls SHOULD like or do. Besides who would CHOOSE this sort of persecution? Who would CHOOSE to sacrifice their friends and family? Some have problems because in the US they have to sacrifice their option of serving in the military. All Transsexuals are CHOOSING is life... instead of spiraling dysphoria that leads them to suicide.

2. (Transsexualism is caused by a wound) Also not true. Wounds can lead to similar symptoms as transsexualism. this difference is easily uncovered by a professional. Through six months of therapy, Professionals are trained to look for causes of symptoms and you wont get a Gender Dysphoria diagnosis if the professional feels like you have some other things to work through before the diagnosis.

Another interesting note is that Transsexuals also tend to have the cognitive function of their DESIRED sex. We all know that men and women reason and process information differently (because our brains are actually different) and surgery perfomerd on deceased transsexuals has shown that the brain of a transsexual person is actually physically similar to their desired sex as opposed to their birth sex.

Another theory includes hormones in utero. Androgen (hormone) switches activate and deactivate in the womb during different stages of fetal development. These hormone exposures can be fudged by mom and cause a fetus to be exposed to too much or little hormone at different stages.

3. (Im not cool with my taxes paying for this) While i can initially see where people are coming from on this, i urge you to consider a few things... Before treatment a transsexual typically struggles from debilitating symptoms. the good news is that moving forward with surgery has an alarming success rate (in the 90s)!!! Usually after procedures and/or hormone therapy, the individual becomes a productive part of society. This means, they go on to be happy, healthy, successful tax payers! after your dollar goes to help these people (theyre rare) they can then join you in paying for roads and schools. GO TEAM!

4 (then shouldnt we pay to help obese people?) While this was meant sort of snidely, i wish we would do more to help the obese... In reality though, paying for weightloss surgery doesnt have nearly the success rate of gender transition. and that isnt even considering the success rate plummet that would happen if the procedure became free (because everyone wants to lose weight without the work...which doesnt work).

Peace out.

It's interesting because a lot of 15yr olds are going through a lot of life-changing events regardless of whether they need a sex-change or not. I would recommend just getting through high school before going under a knife.

But I don't think this is going to be a common thing anyway, so whatever. Seems like an easy headline.

It comes out of a lack of identity (which explains why so many teenagers go through it) - if you don't stand for something, you might fall for anything, right? It usually enters into their system through an emotional wound.

The unfortunate part is that society tells them it's okay, and encourages them towards a decision that they should or shouldn't make, telling them they were born that way and that it's who they are with no real way out of it.

If anyone's questioning my reasoning, know because I went through this. Once I found my identity, then most of it fell away, and I realized what caused it. I still get attacked by thoughts now and again when I don't walk through life knowing who I am.

And it's weird for me, too. But hey, people are people no matter what they do or think and they still need to be shown love regardless.

aww bb i am here :)
