(proposal) Trevor Cox

Recommended Posts

I couldn't find any posts on this player (search tool is down), but anyone remember Cyclone Taylor? Well, the former Stanley Cup winning Vancouver Milliionaire has a great grandson who by the way led the WHL in scoring, and somehow went undrafted. http://www.thenownewspaper.com/hockey-high-scoring-trevor-cox-follows-in-great-grandpa-s-skates-with-video-1.1825820

Trevor Cox was bron in Surrey BC. Despite being passed over in the 2010 bantam draft, he finds himself starring with the Medicine Hat Tigers - where another famous Trevor also played - posting impressive numbers. His latest season was a WHL-leading 109 pts in 69 games with a +29 rating. Last year, he led his team to the conference finals, posting 23 pts. in 17 games.

He is diminutive, 5'8, 164 lbs, but if he can thrive in the tough WHL, he has promise to thrive in the NHL, with its Taylor Johnsons, Patrick Kanes, etc. Check out his highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQEwUf9DR9s.

Long story short, the Canucks should sign this kid. He's eligible, I think, born in 1995. For all the "talentless" criers at our prospects, this kid will satisfy your appetite.

Kind of like Dane Fox, eh? Only one problem, is he worth the roster spot? Maybe get Utica to sign him like Vaulk.

That's fair. Sign him to the AHL - graduate him to the big leagues when the twins retire. Too much competition, but petition Benning to sign him to the system.

If Friesen gets the call up for the 4th line center, which IMO is possible after the playoffs he had, then it opens up a spot for Valk (or whomever) in Utica, thus leaving spots open in the 'Zoo for CHL graduates like Cox.
