riffraff
http://www.cbc.ca/news/trending/walter-palmer-cecil-the-lion-1.3170768 A Minnesota dentist is facing a wave of internet outrage after being named as the hunter behind the death of Cecil the lion. Walter Palmer, a dentist and avid hunter from Bloomington, Minn., was identified as the hunter who killed Cecil, a beloved and popular attraction in Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park, by The Telegraph on Tuesday. He is thought to have paid approximately $50,000 US ($64,600 Cdn) to shoot the lion with a bow and arrow. The animal was later beheaded and skinned. Seriously what is wrong with people? Surely they are insane. This makes me physically ill.
RUPERTKBD
I've never understood the desire to take a life in the name of sport. Hunting for food is one thing, but this is nothing more than killing for the joy of doing so...
Tortorella's Rant
So what is typically the penalty for doing this. Because it obviously happens way too often. There's an entire industry on it.. whether killing for fun or selling the parts (tusks).
PhillipBlunt
But if the lion mauled this piece of $&!# to death, it would be a problem animal. Humans are the worst species on this planet when represented by sharts like this turd.
Canuckfan_Brett
He killed a lot more than just a lion. Looks like rhinos, leopards etc... The guy is a real prize. The internet is blowing up on this guy, probably going to lose everything, good.

Well hopefully online mob shaming actually does something positive and this POS will be charged, pay some serious fine(s) and never repeat this act again. Imo Ricky gervais quite succinctly captures it.

Yes extradition would be required which of course won't happen....who knows maybe the public pressure turns over some results here.
Kakanucks
I don't see why stating he is a dentist has anything to do with the disgusting thing he did? "American slaughters lion" would be fine, or even just "Man slaughters lion"

Human slaughter lion.
LuckyLuciano
How much protein would lion meat have? Maybe it's just for the gains!?? Eat or be eaten, kill or be killed, only the strong survive #yolo wkwowoe

Eat or be eaten, kill or be killed, only the strong survive #yolo wkwowoe I don't know how someone could eat lion.. It's like eating a big cat. But I guess meat is meat. Either way I would assume it's packed with protein and essential amino acids lol Apparently lion burgers are becoming a fad in the USA.

"American slaughters lion" would be fine, or even just "Man slaughters lion" it's the headline i saw around the internet too, but i think it just adds to the 'weirdness' of it all: meaning, some upper middle class professional shlub went to africa to take part in an illegal and morally dubious act before coming back to his upper middle class life "hunter kills lion" is far less evocative

hsedin33
This was apparently a very well known and beloved Lion which was on a nature reserve. He paid someone off to look the other way then lured it off the reserve, killed and beheaded it.
