Lemieux66
Simple concept. Trace back the lineage of how the Canucks ended up at their current roster. Pick a player and go back as far back as you can of the transaction(s) that brought them to the Canucks and the players that were involved. A simple example is: Brandon Sutter was acquired Nick Bonino & Adam Clendening. Bonino was acquired for Ryan Kesler. Adam Clendening was acquired for Gustav Forsling. Therefore, Ryan Kesler and Gustav Forsling resulted in Brandon Sutter being a Canuck. And go.

(But we still got Sbisa and McCann) And go. You pruned your tree? (I bolded in what you lopped off)
-AJ-
Here's an interesting one... Jacob Markstrom was acquired with Shawn Matthias for Luongo and Steven Anthony. Luongo, a 6th, and Krajicek were acquired for Bertuzzi, Allen, and Auld. Bertuzzi was acquired with Bryan McCabe and a 3rd for Trevor Linden. Therefore, Trevor Linden resulted in Jacob Markstrom being a Canuck. Boom.
Odd.
Bo Horvat was drafted 9th overall by the Vancouver Canucks. The 9th overall pick was acquired for Corey Schneider. Therefore, Corey Schneider resulted in Bo Horvat being drafted by us.

-AJ-
There's nobody on our team like that except the ones you just noted. Just find anyone who was traded. Brandon Prust was acquired for Zack Kassian and a 5th. Zack Kassian and Marc-Andrew Gragnani were acquired for Cody Hodgson and Alexander Sulzer. Therefore Cody Hodgson resulted in Brandon Prust becoming a Canuck. Admittedly, the system breaks down in multi-piece trades. More accurately, it would say A 5th, Hodgson and Sulzer resulted in both Prust and Gragnani becoming Canucks (though Gragnani did leave).

So Linden is doubly responsible for losing Eddie Lack (once as team President and once for the being the starting point of a series of trades). Ultimately it all goes back to Dale Tallon, the team's first draft pick in 1970. He was traded for Gary Smith and Jerry Korab in 1973 and everything else follows from that. thejazz97
Trevor Linden --> Todd Bertuzzi + Bryan McCabe Bryan McCabe + 1st --> CHI 1st CHI 1st + Picks --> TBL 1st And the TBL 1st was used to pick Daniel Erik Sedin. Not only was Trevor Linden ground zero for Jacob Markstrom, he was also the first cause for getting half of the dynamic duo we know and love today. SaintPatrick33
1. Hire Torts as coach 2. Realize the team doesnt play torts style, hence the core is old and stale 3. ticket sales go down, the team is labelled boring 4. drastic measures taken, owners realize hiring a hometown hero is whats needed 5. Bring in the legend Linden 6. Linden brings in Benning and Willie D 7. Rebuild is started, resulting in our highest amount of potential NHL prospects 8. 2018 we compete for the stanley cup Thank you Tortorella! Hope you enjoyed your stay in Van...I mean Point Roberts. iinatcc
Let me try this .... Cole Cassels <-> Florida's 3rd Round Pick and David Booth <-> Mikael Samuelsson and Marco Sturm <-> 3rd Round Pick was originally Vancouver's as a result of the Chris Higgins Trade So basically Cole Cassels is the love Child of Mikael Samuelsson, David Booth, Marco Sturm and/or Chris Higgins. Baer.
Schneider was traded for Horvat. Because we graded Schneider, Lack got a chance to prove himself and became our backup. Then we traded Luongo, and Lack was our starter. We sign Miller and trade Lack. That leaves us with Miller-Markstrom but we need a 3rd string. Enter Richard Bachman. If Luongo was traded before Schneider, we wouldn't have Bachman!!!!!

Time Lord
Adam Gaudette was one of Vancouver's 5th round picks this year. It was originally the Rangers' pick but was traded to Vancouver for Raphael Diaz. Diaz was traded to Vancouver in exchange for Dale Weise. Weise became a Canuck when Victor Oreskovich was waived, putting Vancouver at the top of the waiver wire, allowing them to claim Weise. Victor Oreskovich was traded with Keith Ballard for Michael Grabner, Steve Bernier, and our first round pick in 2010 (Quinton Howden) Steve Bernier was acquired by Vancouver in exchange for LA's 3rd round pick in 2009 (Brayden McNabb) and a 2nd round pick in 2010 (Petr Straka) LA's 3rd round pick in 2009 (Brayden McNabb) was traded along with their 2nd round pick in 2007 (Taylor Ellington) to Vancouver for Dan Cloutier. And that's as far as it goes.
