Down by the River
According to the Score, the alleged victim attended a hospital for an exam. So, it is not as if she is making accusations without taking steps to prove her story. Still, just circumstantial, doesn't mean she was raped and doesn't mean Kane was the offender. Brad Marchand
Humanity does what humanity does best: jump to conclusions based on limited information. Not saying all of you, but the people who are guilty of this know who you are. Only thing I'll say is that it's a bit discouraging to see Kane's name attached to another police investigation (albeit only his second).
TU90
Mike Tyson, Darren Sharper, Josh McNary, Bill Cosby, Tupac Shakur etc. all say hi Tupac wasn't charged with rape, he was charged with touching a womans butt.
GB5
Considering that the acceptable standard in the NHL for "allegations" is to terminate one's contract as per LA's Richards then shouldn't the NHL be promoting this same standard for the Blackhawks? I'm saying this tongue in cheek of course because the NHL allowing the Richards thing is BS but if this actually amounts to anything then there is only one choice. BeefcakeBo
The worst part of these situations is that it's 90% he said / she said. There likely is no way that she can prove 100% that she was raped. Kane also won't be able to 100% prove he didn't rape her. That's why most women don't come forward in these cases, because unfortunately women get raped far more often then men are convicted for it since they can't prove it. *edit* Just to clarify I'm in no way saying Kane did rape anyone. Twilight Sparkle
Allegation is rape. Not good! and then like 10 other people suddenly step forward. it could happen!
oldnews
Never a great idea to read these threads. Nothing to learn here except to reconfirm that a lot of people form opinions based upon nothing but their own baggage/ideology.
Chalky
Kind of a sensitive topic for conjecture. Perhaps we should all just take a breath and wait for more information before we lobby to have him kicked out of the league or proclaim his innocence. falcon45ca
Holy smokes this is a very disturbing story....not only what Kane may have done, but the assumptions folks are making in this thread...."I bet she's lying/in it for the money"...."Kane is guilty, kick him out of the NHL"....maybe, just maybe more details need to come to light before everyone starts rushing to conclusions. DrJockitch
Nice to see that most of the people responding on here are fairly balanced in their opinions. Only a couple have attacked the woman for daring to not want to give it up to a young rich guy, but that more likely reflects the demographics of the responders and the unfortunate culture we live in. There has been a lot of progress in really defining what informed consent is and how it degrades with alcohol and drugs. A story that starts in a bar and ends in rape allegations is going to be a horribly messy one with a lot of variables. Some US universities have done a great job of defining informed consent for their students and making affirmative confirmation of a desire for intercourse the standard. This means a woman does not have to say no for it to be rape, she may not be capable, she (or he for that matter) has to give informed consent. This will be a mess for Mr. Kane as well as the victim and will likely drag on. Hopefully it isn't a money grab as some people above have assumed without any facts. Pears
I remember the Doughty incident a few years ago but don't remember it getting this much steam. If Kane gets charged Hawks are screwed.
theminister
The only sensible comment to make at this point is to wait and see what the investigation discovers and let the authorities do their job.
Mr.DirtyDangles
Look at the teams that have won the Cup lately. Each of them has had players with "character" issues. Canucks have let go good players with skills we as a team need. The reason was apparently related to character issues. Obviously character, or lack thereof, is not a deciding factor for success in the NHL. Who in the frak plused this ?
The Weasel
I really hope it's not true. Either way, I hope the truth comes out. If he is indeed guilty, I hope he is dealt with properly. If it is true, I hope she is doing okay. If true, these types of acts can cause long-term psychological damage.
Jiggs50
Interesting. The woman who's accused Kane, deleted her social media profiles. Lot's of rumors. Oh btw she did that before going to the police #shady
Shaft
That's not shady. She probably knew the backlash she was going to get after going to the police.

RonMexico
Interesting. The woman who's accused Kane, deleted her social media profiles. Lot's of rumors. Oh btw she did that before going to the police #shady Shady? Have you seen what happens on social media to the accuser in these cases? Keyboard heroes come to Kane's defense and belittle people to death by calling them all sorts of horrible, untrue insults. I would do the same thing as the woman involved except I don't have any social media accounts to delete.
