Canuck_in_AB
Interesting. The woman who's accused Kane, deleted her social media profiles. Lot's of rumors. Oh btw she did that before going to the police #shady I like that this was the edited version of the post. Was it worse before?
chayne
I'd love to see the Hawks get ****ed as much as the next guy but I'm calling BS on this one. Edit: no pun intended... NO! If this is true this has nothing to do with the Hawks getting screwed. If its true, put hockey aside and deal with this. This is not a joke, a punch line or anything. There is 0 tolerance when it comes to rape. That said I hope its not true for everyone's sake.

Horvat4captain
Honestly I hate the Hawks as much as the rest of you and I wanna see the Hawks get worse. But I really hope this never happened. 1.Rape is horrible and should not be tolorated 2. it gives hockey a bad name with the sh*tshow thats happened this offseason 3.Kane is a great hockey player and the more talent in the league the more entertaining. I would rather Kane stop producing then do something like that. I really hope this didnt happen.
Deets
The only sensible comment to make at this point is to wait and see what the investigation discovers and let the authorities do their job. Yup.
Fox Mulder
Before I write anything I want to say that I'm not saying Kane did or did not do anything he's been accused of. Obviously nobody here knows anything. Rape is a very sensitive issue and a very hard to prove charge. I don't know anything about this but I have had a first hand look at what a false accusation can do to a person. A friend of mine was falsely accused of rape and it ruined his life. I'm not saying this woman is a liar by any means, but IMO why would a high profile person such as Kane rape someone knowing full well what the consequences would be? Kane has nothing to gain but everything to lose in this situation. I really hope that he didn't do it, if he did, he deserves the harshest punishment possible. If he didn't, the woman should be punished equally as harshly. At the end of the day there are no winners here, and regardless of whether Kane is guilty, his reputation is ruined. I agree with most of your post but there is plenty of reasons why someone like Kane, or someone in his position, would rape someone. Ego problems, just generally being turned on by rape etc, thinking every girl really means yes even when they say no cause he is a superstar. Lots of powerful/rich people are turned on by being in control or wielding power. Many reasons. Crap, for all we know it could be statutory rape. If he didn't, the woman should be punished equally as harshly. At the end of the day there are no winners here, and regardless of whether Kane is guilty, his reputation is ruined. There was a study done where male university students were put into two groups. One group was asked a series of questions about the likelihood of committing different offenses, including sex offenses, if they knew they thought they wouldn't get caught. A second group was given the same survey, but before completing the survey, were asked to masturbate just prior to the point of completion. The group that was sexually aroused at the time they filled out the survey was significantly more likely to report that they would commit a sexual assault. Like you, I'm not saying anything about Kane, but that study might explain why someone in a high profile position would still commit an offense... sexual arousal associated with low self control and essentially poorer decision making. Add in alcohol as well...

Yeah, that clearly deterred Bill Cosby, after all. Now, like you, I'm not saying one way or another whether I think the allegations are true. There's not enough information yet, and that's all there is to it. However, a counterpoint to your thoughts. Sure, a guy like Kane has a lot to lose, but that's because of his high profile status, fame, and wealth. Which are the exact same reasons that a lot of powerful people think they can get away with something like this.

RunningWild
I know its the internet, and sometimes most of the time people are just saying things to get a reaction because nobody will talk to them in real life, but some of the responses in here are insanely stupid. Obviously nobody in here knows what happened, but to make claims about 'cashing in' and 'he's attractive and rich' are moronic for several reasons. If you think rape is just about getting some, you're wrong. Even if a guy can get it pretty much whenever he wants, doesn't mean he won't rape for a sense of power/control. What if the victim had a boyfriend/husband? Just because a man is young, wealthy, and attractive, doesn't mean every woman wants to fall on his penis. You sir deserve many +

Green Building
The best case scenario is that this plays out that the woman was lying all along. I can live with that, after all, people try to work all sorts of angles to profit off of the rich every day. If that doesn't turn out to be the case then it just gets ugly, really really ugly. I'm no Hawks fan, no fan of Kane either, but let's be honest about the guy being an amazing hockey player that a lot of young kids look up to, and a guy that provides some legit entertainment to all. This would be awful for the individual accusing him. 2 ex girlfriends were raped before I dated them. That kind of trauma has the unfortunate effect of remaining with someone forever and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. Hopefully it's all BS and it's just a case of a big lie. The alternative is nasty. side note: CDC being CDC with some of the ridiculous comments here. Top flight garbage for sure.
BI3KSA-
They met in a bar. And is that supposed to be better? Depending on the circumstances being compared, yeah, its very well could be. Underage people get in bars all the time. It's not inherently better in all situations. But for all we know he could have been lied to by her about her age/she had a fake ID etc. Which was my point. Sean Monahan
Why is it in poor taste? Poor Kane?? Leave Kane alone?? As is everybody under investigation, he's innocent until proven guilty. Regardless of what kind of suspicions you may have he, until found guilty, has done nothing wrong here. No sense slandering his name at this point. For all we know the girl could just be trying to get a large monetary payout...not saying she is, what I'm saying is we don't know what happened here and should reserve judgement until we do. We'll know the details in due time.
sydney_gal
He was warned about the haircut. No sympathy. This comment made me laugh out loud (I'm at work)!! So funny! Well this news story has actually made it to the front page of The Sydney Morning Herald (online) if you can believe it - I was pretty surprised as hockey is NEVER covered or reported here in Australia!
