Canuck Surfer
Interesting note. Salo was only a minus player once in his career. He was a -3 in 27 games in the 10/11 season. Not bad over a 15 year career.Wow! Wow! That had to be our best goals for / goals against differential ever that year as well?

Tom Sestito
People really didn't give him credit for his great defensive play... while he never laid out hits, he had a great knack for using his stick and body position to pin opposing players against the boards and taking them out of the play. +1 How defensive hockey should be played. say no to the
Apples
One of my favourite all time Canuck. Best of luck Sami.
TheCammer
Peter Schaefer for Sami Salo is still one of the best trades ever completed by Canucks' management. Very classy player. His career was really derailed by injuries otherwise i think he could have been a 40+ points player for much of his time in Vancouver. Never really reached his true potential but a solid leader through and through.
TheCammer
I would also like to add that i think Salo's retirement thread belongs in Canucks Talk. I think he's earned that.

HerrDrFunk
Heck, they should just pay him to give motivational speeches to the rookies that begin and end with "I suited up with a shattered testicle. Any questions?"
DeNiro
Would love to see him work with some of our young players. Powerplay coach? Teach them how to walk the line and rip a one-timer.
R3aL
Would love to see him work with some of our young players. Powerplay coach? Teach them how to walk the line and rip a one-timer. Teach them how to clap em home! Our team always played so much better with him in the lineup.

Nuck-Shot
Sami salo was a complete 1st line player durability aside. Like many Scandinavians he seemed to over compensate lack of ferocity with stoic composure.
Nave
One of my fav Canucks ever.
CALGARY!
Shame his career was so mired in injury, when healthy and in his prime years he was always easily Vancouvers best d-man. Heck of a shot and ability to QB a PP, and a rock in his own end as well. Always one of my favorite Canucks of the last 20 years.
Raph
Even though everyone raves about his booming slapshot, the best part of his game was actually his game sense. He always made the right decision, and he made his teammates better players.
Citizen Erased
I can only imagine what he could have accomplished if he could stay healthy but he was fun to watch when he was.
