Jordan Subban | D

Hope we hang onto this kid and let him develop. He seems to have a good attitude and I think we will see him get some games in the NHL this season. Other short guys have made it on defense, I can see him becoming, kind of a tank on skates, hits hard, hard to hit.

Brand recognition. Can you imagine if his last name was Bure and he was a 5'4" flashy forward we picked in the 7th? This place would go bananas!

Like Valeri Bure or Steve Kariiya you mean? There just isn't a good reason to throw him into any trade deal at this time. Unless a team specifically asked for him in a deal, what's the point of getting rid of him just for the sake of getting rid of him? The kid's a gym rat, so let him keep adding pounds during the offseason and see where he ends up in 2 years when you have to make a decision on him. If he weighs 200 lbs at 5'7", good luck trying to push him around.

Is Subban REALLY 5'9" though?  He seems more like he's 5'5".

Yes, he's 5'9" and that's not "on skates" but his actual height.

Three years ago, he was measured at the Combine and he was 5'8.25" at that time. He's probably grown 0.5 or 0.75 inches so the 5'9" sounds pretty accurate.

And we know the Combine measurement was accurate because there's photographic evidence: LINK

It's a little tough to make out but if you look carefully you can see he's somewhere between 5'8" and 5'9" in the photo.

If Subban is 5'9" then the lady measuring him must be 7 feet!

Tank?

Something wrong here.

Let's see.. Tank spelt backwards is Knat, you know what a Knat is? It's knit in past tense. Example "I Knat some slippers".

I think you meant Knat. Cause it makes more sense than calling Jordan Subban a tank.

Aww c'mon LaBamba, Jordan Subban is a 4th round pick who works hard on and off the ice and plays with a lot of passion. A couple more seasons in the AHL and more hard work over the summer and we might have something here. If not, it was just a 4th round pick on a good gamble with great potential.

Nothing wrong with a little optimism.

He's basically the same weight as a Sedin minus their extra 5". No you don't.

Hahaha 5"!?!? Do I have to dig up my leverage diagram? I can still step on and kill the biggest ant in the world. I don't care how thick it is for an ant.

Can't wait to see what he brings this year (to camp and Utica)...some end to end rushes would be nice. With that speed he could gain the zone for us esp on the pp.

One year older and wiser I hope he brings it. At his size he has to force JB to keep him around.

Don't you think his offence MUST out weigh his defensive liabilities?

The point is that ant weighs the same as you do though.  My money is on the ant, especially since you're a banana.

I think with Tanev Edler Try Gud we've got a lot of def first guys..they need to have complimentary players to help in the trransition game. I think Subby is ok def wise but an offensive flair would/could break down zone coverage/traps

I'm certainly looking forward to Subban getting some call ups this coming season, to see if his offense will transfer.
