This is bang on.

I'd love to be proven wrong after my 1,000 or so Subban hate posts. It's just that I'm not a stunned, zit covered teenager that has no grasp on reality. Therefore, I realize he is pretty much a waste of a contract at his size.

I love how you think you know exactly how our players will turn out lmao. a waste of a contract at his size? That may be the stupidest thing I have read on CDC all day.

If he was 29-30 I would agree but he is 21... still plenty of time to grow a few more inches and put on a couple pounds

If it's the stupidest thing you have read all day then you mister, are not proof reading your posts.

As usual, people with too hard a hate on for Subban overstating his weaknesses and ignoring his strengths. I realize there are homers who are overly positive on CDC, but I don't see too many hanging around this thread continuously to do nothing but restate the same negative points over and over.

Subban is a long shot, as much as any other prospect not picked in the top end of the first round is. The fact that he's producing offensively and getting positive reviews for his work to improve defensively is a good sign. No one who is honestly objective should be writing anyone off with the chance Subban still has to make it.

So, if you want to write him off, go ahead. We know where you stand and don't need to hear about it regularly unless you can bring some new or even actual evidence to back up further claims.

We're here to discuss him as a prospect and how he's progressing. We might as well be at least objective (if not positive!) rather than just continue negative, repetitive posts.

Totally agree, I hate negativity.

If Larsen is a bust, I could see Subban getting an opportunity. JB definitely saw Krug come up and shine in the Bruions organization, so I'm thinking maybe he gives Subban many chances to prove himself.

I think he said in one of his interviews that subban would get a chance this season

This is exactly it.  Just because a player is small doesn't necessarily mean he is going to suck - he just has to have outstanding abilities elsewhere.  Krug is a great example.  Gaudreau is even smaller, and is crazy good.  While not quite in the same era, Gionta and St. Louis did just fine, and both were smaller.

Subban is an excellent skater, very smart with the puck in the offensive zone, and can turn on a dime.  As long as he works on his defensive game and gets as strong as he can, I could see him doing ok.  The guy's skillset and athleticism is really very impressive for a defenseman.  Let's just make sure we pair him with Gudbranson or Tryamkin. :)

We've added Stecher since, so it'll depend on who's performing better when any opportunity arises.

From what I've seen so far this week at camp.  Stetcher is now our #1 D prospect, he has been impressive.  Honorable mention to Joulevi of course, but at this point, I think Stetcher has the edge...for how long, who knows.  Probably won't be long till Joulevi overtakes Stetcher too.

Was Subban at the summer camp or was that for more recent draft picks only.

I think Subban has the tools to help an nhl PP, surely he will be outmatched in his own end, but if he ever does make it to the nhl he needs to be paired with a solid reliable defender.

I hope he gets a call up if we need an offensive spark from the D, cant hurt but give him a legitimate opportunity not just a game then banish him back to Utica unless he scores 2 g and adds 3 helpers and has 0 giveaways

You gotta cheer for the underdog. But you also have to understand, he's at a disadvantage before you even factor in competition. Doesn't mean he can't be successful. He's a fourth round pick, I wish him luck, and work your tail off. Let the chips fall where they may.

Yes, something about Subban likely getting a call-up or two this coming season.  Stecher does look good and may move ahead of him on the depth chart, but we won't know for sure until they start playing.  There will be plenty of chances for a direct, side-by-side comparison in camp and at Utica.  Subban won't want to be the forgotten man, which is how he's looking now.

Don't think Jordan has much more ability to add height. He is what he is, a smaller skilled offence first player. With the right partner he could be excellent as a specialty 5/6 guy who gets the point on the PP. That is if he can have a passable d game.

I love his speed and skill.  He should be tried at wing and play the point. This at least may make him a usable player at the NHL.
