Maybe he's the dynamic winger we so badly need to replace one of the Twins' minutes?

I'm all for it. I'd be as happy as anyone if Subbs pulled a "Hutton" and made the lineup out of camp. But the situation this year is much tougher than last year so his performance would need to be off the charts for him to beat the numbers game on D. More realistically, I'm hoping he has a strong Canucks camp and then carries that momentum to Utica. Would love to see Subban earn a top pairing role with the Comets, QB their #1PP unit, and show enough defensively to also get some regular PK duties. Playing big minutes in all situations would at the AHL would be huge for his development. Especially if he can pile up something like 50+ points while also being defensively sound. A strong season as a top pairing AHL defender would make a very strong case for pencilling Subban into the 2017-18 Canucks defensive order. For me, that would be a pretty amazing result. insomniac604
I believe Jordan has a lot of potential. I remember when we just drafted him and PK said, among many other praises, "Put it this way: There are seven people in our family, and if there are six slices of pizza on the table, Jordan's getting one. He's that type of kid, and he has that type character. " He also gave him a huge shout-out for his work ethic and strength in the gym. I believe the only reason we haven't called him up is because management believes in him, and does not want to stunt his development. Yes, we have Biega and Pedan for depth. They are great options if our holes are 5/6. But if we find ourselves needing some solid offense, I can see Jordan getting called up. He's small, sure. But so was PK. I don't stress about him at all. He has done everything right and is progressing just fine. He'll be here soon.
Fred65
To me it's contest between Strecher, Subban and maybe Larson for the role they're supposed to be filling....I'm think for irrational reasons Strecher wins

I think they will start with Larson and carry Pedan as an extra. They will try to sneak Biega down to Utica, but he will probably get picked up by another team, as he is a solid bottom pairing dman. Just can't see them losing 3 players for no return. Maybe they make a trade later in the season, but for now, guys like Stetcher, Subban and Gaunce will play in Utica. I agree with everything you said except I don't think Biega gets claimed. First year of a two year one way contract I think assures Bulldog will clear waivers. Jordan Subban will be back in Utica for his second season and will benefit from it.

Larsen as the #6 PP guy, Sbisa as #5, Tryamkin and Pedan as 7/8, Biega sent down (as UticaHockey noted, I HIGHLY doubt he's claimed) and Subban and Stetcher competing for the top offensive D role in Utica. If Larsen gets hurt, whichever of those two is ahead gets the call.

I don't really see one being ranked above the other but rather being deployed strategically against specific teams. I'm really hoping that Subban gets a good look when injuries inevitably strike. I've been high on this guy for a while, and I'm very curious to see what he can do given the chance.

To me, that's Larsen pretty firmly penciled in that #6 spot. I see Sbisa/Tryamkin subbing in and out of the 5/7 slots personally with a high likelihood of Sbisa being moved at some point in season so long as Tryamkin doesn't fall on his face. I agree that's what management looking for some scoring from the PP. They need one guy to take care of that slot to Q'back the PP. I understand the reluctance to move Sbisa, he's a vet know the the system and occasionally bring the physicality. But I'm thinking maybe Tryamkin and Gudbranson can bring more physicality especallly on the PK. I think most want to see Pedan stay but it doesn't look good unless he's made big strides over the summer. We all remember how Hutton forced his way onto the roster so nothing is impossible. Biega as much as he is a steady performer I think they'll throw the dice and try and waive him. A nice problem to have too many candidates for the 7 D slots

There's almost zero chance he goes anywhere. I think they leave Sbisa there to start to make sure they can ease Tryamkin in and make sure he's ready. As soon as he shows he is and there's a trade available, Sbisa's moved IMO.

Moving Sbisa seems like the logical move ..... but .... he is a JB guy and I'm thinking as much as Hutton was way beyond their expectations last year .... I just hope he's ready to repeat and doesn't take his foot off the peddle. I heard some interview mention that there had been some trial balloons floated with no response for Sbisa. I like the idea of Tryamkin and Pedan making the roster
Goal:thecup
Unless JB uncovers something irresistible, I don't think we will see much change if any before camp. There are so many questions: - How many minutes can Tryamkin handle (see bandages on knees and ankles comment in other thread)? - How good is Larsen? - Can Hutton repeat last year's fine performance (he looked exhausted and overwhelmed at the end of the season)? - Can Pedan hold down a spot (because I doubt he clears waivers)? - Can Biega knock anyone off (e.g. Pedan)? - Can Stetcher knock anyone off (because he can be sent to Utica)? - Can Subban knock anyone off (because he too can be sent to Utica)? If no changes before camp, and no real surprises at camp, I foresee (yes, I have a crystal ball): Edler - Tanev Hutton - Gudbranson Sbisa - Larsen Tryamkin - Pedan With Biega possibly clearing waivers and joining Stetcher and Subban in Utica. I agree, he most likely will be on the team. But we may want to pencil him in a little lower in the order than #5 or #6 until his body catches up to the NHL. Who knows? He may have resolved those issues already and he might be able to start every game. He is a huge young man and may require some TLC; we wouldn't want to burn him out. Cannot really argue your reasoning about Sbisa. Of course we could all be surprised if Sbisa really kicks it in and plays lights out. Tryamkin, Larson, and Pedan are all contenders for bottom pairings. All have strengths and weaknesses. Since the forward group is hardly written in stone either a deal is always possible.
