(Discussion) Is Pittsburgh that better than anyone else?

Define 'everyone' - examples please.

Really? It's pretty obvious that media and fans are all saying "Penguins addressed their depth!" "Penguins are cup contenders now." Or fine if you for some reason don't believe me.. CROSBY SAID he likes the moves Rutherford made and liked exactly how Rutherford was shaping the team. Crosby said it when being interviewed at his kids hockey school.

Ok, cool. So media and fans are all saying this (despite you giving no proof of examples) and Crosby himself said they are better than anyone else (when he actually said he just likes the moves they made). Got it. I'm convinced.

EDIT: and just to help you out, I tried to google the phrases you mentioned to see if I could find any supporting articles, but all the recent ones I found (which there weren't a lot of when you search for 'contenders' and 'addressed their depth') were very much tempered in their assessments. Certainly not anyone saying they've fixed all the problems they have and are now better than anyone else - in the East or otherwise.

Saying they've tried to address their depth and are still cup contenders doesn't equal 'everyone' saying the Pens are better than everyone else and are going to win the cup. And no, homer Pens fans don't count as 'everyone' either, otherwise you could use Apollo and Alflives from CDC as your proof in an argument that the Canucks are better than everyone else.

I'm just wondering what your basing your argument on and so far it looks like little to nothing.

What is likely the case is that the OP is backpeddling now, trying not to admit he misspoke. More than anything, it was just his opinion, based on no sources whatsoever.

My only "source" for the other side of this is a coworker who has a raging hard-on for the Pens. His opinion is that, "while Kessel will help with their offence, which didn't need help in the first place, they are still far off from fixing their issues."

And again, that source is a coworker, which equates to bupkis. But at least it's a one more source than the OP quoted for the contrary.

If I liked that franchise they'd drive me nuts the way they go about builiding their team.

But I don't so I just sit back and wonder what the hell they're doing.

They could have a tremendous, young blueline at this point - something they finally appeared to be building around - but they've done what Pittsburgh does and messed their franchise up once again.

If you're just out to argue, then stay quiet. It's pretty damn simple, Pittsburgh added an Elite US Olympic sniper, a Center who has played a 2nd line role twice (Bonino), another center for their 4th line who's been a 20 goal scorer and played top six minutes last season, they got a top end young defensmean healthy, an extremely hard working grinder healthy who can pot 20 goals, and they signed a top KHL prospect on the wing and a shifty veteran who can play any forward position. Now everyone's says they're loaded and ready to contend, it's pretty obvious, you know it too. I'm saying I don't think they've improved and are overrated, stop pulling facts out wherever you can to make it look like you're Mr reporter. You know what I'm saying, go make a proposal that you probably can't make, because your so factual and think you know everything.

I don't think Pittsburgh's much improved to be honest. They made a big splash in Kessel, but at the same time, Kessel is as inconsistent as it gets. When he's on his game, he's the most lethal player in the game. But then he gets lazy and goes in big slumps often too. How the Penguins do will really depend on if they get Kessel the sniper, or the lazy uncoachable player the Leafs wanted to get rid of.
