This is comical. Steve Macfarlane @MacfarlaneHKY 48s48 seconds ago Giordano agreeing to less than $7M a year another example why he's one of the best leaders in the game. tera_ha
Flames sign D Giordano to six-year, $40.5M extension Good AVG for a Solid Defenseman. Good term as well
Baer.
There goes their $3.9 million in remaining cap space. David Jones and his ridiculous $4M cap hit will be off the books next year. Only thing is they have Gaudreau AND Monahan to sign as well.. And both of their goalies are UFAs. Next year should be interesting.
TOMapleLaughs
That's it? With all the hype about his incomplete season he just had it sounded like he was going to get league max.

apollo
This thread is better. I hate it when people make crap threads trying to be first. This. Can't believe someone makes a garbage thread when they have no info or source... I might as well make one each time I find out what I'm having for dinner but not mention what I'm actually having. 6.75... Damn. I was hoping 9 million
Hidden Panda
If gio can stay healthy and has a year like last year this'll be an absolute bargain... I don't like the flames right now..
Baer.
Can't see Kris Russel back next year unless they get rid of Smid's contract or bury him in the minors.

Just wait till next year. Look at their contracts and tell me they aren't gonna. Be screwed. Doubt Kris Russell will be back. We should pick him up. Phil_314
Easily worth every penny for him. Great story too, coming from nowhere to become the Flames' captain and now a star in the league. 22.4 million for their top-4 (Gio, Dougie, Brodie, Wideman) is absolutely solid value; at least 3 are top-pair guys. If they can somehow morph into Anaheim with the balance in competitiveness and good drafting, they'll contend. Well, it was good to be here but I'm gonna go hop on that red wagon over there . tas
it's gonna be painful as a canucks fan living in calgary for the next couple years. i'm certainly excited for the canucks' future, which looks bright, but the flames have something special going on and if the oilers can ever translate potential to performance... Benning is the biggest idiott in the league and watching this is sad Oh I'm sorry how is he supposed to get Giordano when he's been playing with the Flames since 2009? Love Canucks fans. Giordano is a steal at age 31. But we have to dump Hamhius at age 32 because he's no good.

RonMexico
This is about right. He shouldn't be paid any more than this. He has some injury concerns and everyone on the blue line for Calgary over-achieved last season from an offensive standpoint. When guys have career seasons at age 30 and above, it's buyer beware.
