We have a trade to announce...

To VAN: Jussi Jokinen, Andrew Ference, Brady Skjei

To EDM: David Jones

The Oilers made a hard decision that this was in the best interests of the franchise and the players involved.

Though it is regrettable that leader Andrew Ference was asked to waive his NMC the organization is committed to providing opportunities for young players coming up and we wish him well. The inclusion of Skjei was necessary to ask Vancouver to accept $3.0 in cap space and we felt our D depth was strong enough to make the move. The swap of Jokinen for Jones was the last piece required to get the job done and we feel he adds good qualities to our 3rd line.

The Edmonton Oilers have signed Matt Cullen to a 1 year deal worth 1.1M.

We are very happy to welcome Matt aboard and he will serve as our 4C going into camp. He will battle with unsigned Goc for that role.

Lineup updated on page #1.

The New York Islanders have signed Tyler Motte to a 3 year ELC worth 775K per year.

The New York Islanders have signed Viktor Svedberg to a 3 year deal worth 925K per year.

The New York Islanders have signed Marc Methot to a 2 year deal worth 2.25M per year.

The Islanders would like to thank Agent Nail for his time and these players for electing to sign with our franchise.

We'd like to welcome Marc, who will provide a solid shutdown presence on our blueline.

Tyler is a talented young small forward prospect with a lot of game, and Svedberg is a giant that we feel has a good skillset to go with his intimidating frame. Both welcome addtions to our relatively thin AHL group.

We have a trade to announce...

To ARZ: Barrett Jackman

To NYI: ARZ 2016 2nd Round Pick

We'd like to thank GM Drew - gave us a tough negotiation/decision - Barrett is a very good bang for the buck player that we weren't looking to move, but we felt the pick was worth the risk.... if one of Clendening, Percy or Carrick are able to step up to our NHL roster this coming season.

The New York Islanders continue to look to be active on the trade front.

Players that could be available include forwards:

Ryan Callahan

Radim Vrbata (although he holds a 5 team NTC so I imagine teams would need to be quite competitive)

PA Parenteau

Chris Neil

Jesse Winchester

Would be willing to spend a future to move Stephen Weiss' cap hit if any team has space, can bury him in the AHL and could benefit from a player/prospect/pick.

Defensemen:

Any of our top 4 could potentially be dealt - more likely but not limited to the guys without NTCs

Paul Martin

Andy Greene.

as well as

Brian Strait

and

2015 2nd rd Bruins pick D prospect Jeremy Lauzon could be dealt - preferably for a forward prospect or perhaps as compensation in a Weiss cap dump...

Open to offers from interested GMs.

A deal for one of the top 6 forwards would ideally involve a roster forward in return.

A deal for a top 4 defenseman would ideally include a depth or young D in return although we could be flexible for the right deal.

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Conor Sheary to a 2 year ELC worth 900K per year.

The Carolina Hurricanes are thrilled to welcome Conor Sheary to the organization. IRL, Conor was the leading scorer on the Penguins affiliate last season, and he is expected to challenge for a role on LW this season.

With the influx of prospect depth in my organization, most prospects are available in a trade, except for the following:

- Nick Paul

- Julius Honka

- Jordan Weal

- Madison Bowey

- Ryan Pulock

- Sonny Milano

Everyone else can be moved. If there are inquiries on the above players, note that they could be moved, but the asking price would be high.

Waivers: The New York Islanders are placing C Stephen Weiss on waivers with the intention of assigning him to the Long Island Ice Tease.

Stephen has a NMC and was not asked to waive that NMC to be placed on waivers yet.

At this time, Stephen is not on waivers until further notice.

Waivers: C Stephen Weiss has waived his NMC, enabling the New York Islanders to place him on waivers with the intention of assigning him to the Long Island Ice Tease.

We'd like to thank Stephen for considering the team's needs in this circumstance - we hope he manages to earn an NHL contract, regain his productive career and return to our our active roster.

The Columbus Blue Jackets thought they had a plan in place to get cap compliant but it looks like they may need to consider a few other options. Any teams willing to take on a bit of cap, pm GM Winterhawks. We are willing to add incentives in certain deals.

I can.

Impatiently waiting to see if Steve Bernier signs somewhere or receives a PTO IRL. Thought his 16 goals and 32 points in 67 games last season would have been enough to garner a one year somewhere. Thankfully, at $1.5M for one year, his salary doesn't handcuff me. Still have enough cap room to send him down and call up either Weal, Paul, or Grenier.

In other non-signing news, VERY shocked that Cody Franson hasn't signed yet. Strange.
