[Speculation] Patrick Kane trade in the works!

And who the hell can afford that contract let alone what the Hawks would demand?

two 1sts 2 all star blue chip prospects 2 NHL ready prospects or a top 4 or top 6 player in return for a franchise defining multiple cup winning on ice monster with off ice issues.

Or something there in. His off ice issues and contract may drop his value. But I have a very hard time fathoming who can afford him

5 teams? Maybe they want to take the cap hit on knowing that he wont be playing just to get to the cap floor?

I wonder if it would be worth Florida taking a look. A bit expensive of a contract for that market but for a team that has been "tanking" for a while now they certainly should have the pieces and futures required.

Edit- and what Ice Orca said

Florida anonymity makes sense for Kane. But if that happens, Chicago isn't going anywhere any time soon. The plethora of new young blood in an already quite young dynasty in the making would ensure a few more Cups this decade.

Including the haul they would get in picks and prospects...

You would think that given the speculated asking price teams would be hesitant to make any move unless the whole thing is settled.

I meant who us going to give up a ridiculous ask? For sake of it (hypothetically) Vancouver would be offering up Vrbata and Higgins off the bat to clear salary plus Virtanen, this year's first rounder and the next maybe another prospect as well like Gaunce or Kenins.

That's a lot of assets to give up for a guy who could be sitting in a jail cell within the next year and will leave you with nothing to show for it.

Is the cost worth it?

Bjugstad, Crouse, Barkov,Trocheck, Huberdeau and Ekblad. Pick any 4 of them and add a couple first round picks in varying years.

This is what I mean. Chicago isn't letting him go at his age with his skill and winning experience for nothing. And Tallon knows what he's getting so he knows there's no favors being done.

Taking on that contract is one thing, but gutting your team to meet the Bowmans' demands is entirely different. This guy might not be crosby or Malkin. But he's a 1st overall pick with a bunch of cups and personal hardware under his belt under contract for nearly a decade that knows how to win

All this while you also are not certain about how his case will play out in the next weeks and months. Imaging giving up that ask and getting him for only training camp and a handful of games?

It could be possible if Chicago retains some salary. I'm not all up to speed on where teams are in relation to the cap but I imagine if this is a pr move due to his recent problems then I could see a salary retention of some sort.

That's the thing. Don't get me wrong I doubt the asking price would be nearly that high. But he's a massive gamble to be betting your future on even at a possible discount

But how much? That's a large salary and the league mandates how much they can retain don't they? Would still be a seriously expensive player.

Hard to imagine a trade like this would ever happen in todays NHL
