Starting UBC next week.

Hey guys,

I'm going to be starting my university life this coming week at UBC, and I was wondering if there were any Canucks-orientated clubs or get togethers that happen on campus. Would be nice to get to know some fellow nucks fans and maybe catch a few games at the Rog.

Go to the "Pit", and watch the games there.

Do you have to be 19? I'm 18 haha

Next steps:

1. Find someone who looks similar to you.

2. Pay for them to get a replacement ID when they "lose" theirs. Add a 6-pack or case as a surcharge.

3. Memorize the info on the card.

4. Act like you should be there when you get to the door.

5. Thank me after making your 1st year the time of your life!

If you can, grow facial hair. I stopped getting carded once I had a beard even though I was 17-18.

Another one: dress well, SRS. I'm 20 and don't need to sneak around anymore, but I whenever I'm buying liquor wearing something like a blazer/nice shirt/good pants (due to work or job interviews or special events) I find I hardly ever get IDed. When I come in wearing a ballcap, t shirt and jeans, I get ID'ed every time.

This might not work nearly as well at a university bar where people expect everyone to be young and will probably just assume you're a business student.

Lots of Canucks "fans" on campus (and in Vancouver), but particularly at UBC. I'd recommend joining the intramural ball hockey or ice hockey leagues by UBC REC and meeting non-casual hockey fans through there (which is what it sounds like you're going for).

Excited for you. UBC can be a blast or an academic grind depending on your goals and what you're studying. Just make sure to balance both and enjoy yourself. It'll be over before you know it and you'll miss it :(.
