SaintPatrick33
Nice effort, but those players we receive in return are quite soft, and doesnt fit the Benning model of tough, hard-nosed players.
cripplereh
I just think those trades do not make us much better!
Z Hockey
You look at the top six wing situation right now on both sides, even with Vrbata gone, there's no need for more top six guys like Sekac. Baertschi/Virtanen Virtanen/Baertschi Shinkaruk. Burrows/Jensen/Grenier Higgins Hansen/Burrows Prust. Dorsett Kenins/Gaunce Cracknell Blomstrand Boeser Sekac would just cause a log-jam and push back Baertschi, Shinkaruk, Virtanen, Jensen, Grenier, and Gaunce who are all seriously pushing for top nine or even top six spots. Plus Burrows, Higgins, Hansen, and Dorsett are all on the wings and signed past this season. Also Vey will likely be moved to wing as well once one or more of Cassels/McCann/Labate/Friesen step in. D prospects and picks only for Vrbata, or younger forwards/wingers. Kerdiles is a good idea. And I know Yakimov showed some nice potential with Edmonton in pre-season and rookie showcasing, he's a tantalizing great sized Russian with serious boom or bust potential. But no more centres, we have a similar centre in Labate. Even if Vey doesn't re-sign next year... Henrik Horvat Sutter UFA/Trade/Cassels/McCann/Gaunce/Friesen/ Labate ^^^? Yakimov

Not trying to be that guys, but neither are Baertschi, or Vey. 2 guys that Benning brought in for the 'future'.

Guest
If Hansen is our 2RW, we're tanking for Matthews. I'd hope he's 3RW as a maximum. As for the trades, I dislike both and feel we'd get better value elsewhere. Vrbata won't leave for anything less than a 1st round pick + prospect. DownUndaCanuck
TO ANA: Radim Vbrata + Hutton +/- 3rd round pick TO VAN: Shea Theodore To be honest I'm not sold on Hutton, don't think he'll ever become a top-4 NHL defenceman, and we've got Vbrata so why not upgrade Hutton to Theodore with Vbrata's current 30-goal scoring value. Anaheim would love an extra scorer and they have no room in the foreseable future for Theodore to break into the NHL with their kids playing so well on the blueline. In the off-season, we sign Lucic to some rediculous deal and hopefully can grab Seabrook for a few years as well. Now we have a kid in Theodore who is primarily a puck mover but can be groomed and mentored into the NHL by one of the best defencemen of the last 10 years, so that hopefully we will have a future Norris Trophy winner on our hands. Edler - Tanev Theodore - Seabrook Sbisa - Barktowski Corrado Suddenly over the course of 1 season we have a defence that matches up with the better ones in the conference. Seabrook is reportedly very cose to re-signing with Chicago.
