Best way to meet a player or two?

But seriously, it's been covered a lot in the past that you pretty much either have to luck out, go to an event where you can meet them, or wait by the gate where they exit after games. No, stalking is not an option.

Since when is stalking not an option?

It's ALWAYS an option.

Not always the best one, but sometimes the only one. Hahah

I have only ever met Trev at a signing, guy was a gentleman. skipped a 3 hour line because it was my graduation and we rolled up in a limo and suits. Made the paper too. I actually met Rick the Ripper once at a restaurant, and Tiger Williams outside gate 10, andCaptain Kirk at the airport, good times

Trevor is very approachable for sure. I'd love to meet Tiger, what a character

I could only imagine what Weber would do if you asked him for an autograph on an off day. Into the brick wall goes your head!

Shea Weber is actually really nice kid. I have met him a few times, in Kelowna...I have also met Tyler Myers, super quiet kid too.

There are well over 300 current and former NHL players living in Kelowna...Funny thing is they hide well lol.

But I see them at the arena, Ive meet a bunch of players on the golf course. I dont care about autographs. I find them kind of lame.

Ive met, Higgins, Daniel, Edler, Hodgson, Bieska, and Erhoff while walking downtown just before the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2011. I said "Kick some ass boys" , shook all their hands, and Daniel said "yup and smiled". Good times. No pics or autographs, just a handshake.

Go to Rogers Arena and set Tinder to search for men within a 1km range.

(An unnamed Canucks prospect actually did come up on my feed once...his profile was registered as female for some reason)

A lot of the single guys probably are on Tinder.

If you follow guys like Shinkaruk and Virtanen on Instagram, and even guys like Brenden Gallagher, Mackinnon, etc. almost every picture they like on IG is hot girls in bikinis lol.

It depends on your personal circumstances. Do you play hockey? If so then hit the rinks in summertime and a few show up there. Do you play golf? Check out charity tournaments. Also depends on your history with hockey...do you know some players already? Then chances are you'll meet other players. Do you work in a hockey related industry (marketing, food service etc) or in an industry that services players occasionally (as mine does), then chance are you could meet some there. If you're a fan, then teams set up specific fan meet and greet occasions. And as some others have suggested, impromtu and chance meetings. There's many ways to meet players, but be cool about it. They just play hockey. They do it well enough to make a living at it but it's not like they're saving lives or contributing to your personal wealth or development. Keep it in perspective, it's just entertainment.

Is there an actual schedule for meet and greets?

Autograph sessions are usually announced as they come up (rather than any sort of formal schedule). I can sort of see asking for autographs at the rink before/after games or practices, but anything outside of that seems like an intrusion.

Can't even imagine being an NHL player on Tinder. Would almost be scary easy.

Since I'm going to be at UBC for the foreseeable future, I was wondering what the best way to meet players was.

If it's after games or public events or just sheer luck?

I know it's not the same but I work at YLW (Kelowna International Airport) and so many people from the Hockey world come through... This year alone I have met: Brian Burke, Vern Fiddler, Trevor Linden, Hal Gill, Mike Babcock, Craig McTavish, Jonathan Bernier, Scotty Upshall, Don Cherry, Brad Treliving, Duncan Keith, Joe Sakic and Ray Emery. Meeting Trevor was a dream come true.
