Edler-Hamhuis would be a nice top pairing

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a sense of how many players have ever returned to a team after being traded or signing somewhere else? Obvious example is Linden, but how many times does this actually happen league-wide?

It doesn't happen very often but it does happen. Vermette did it this year.

It's been tried a little over the past several years, generally with Hamhuis playing his off side, and generally with Edler-Hamhuis having poor results as a pairing.

The sample is pretty small though. Only about 300 minutes of 5v5TOI. For the most part, their Corsi is unaffected but their goals numbers suffer. Edler-Hamhuis is a minus-6 over those 300 minutes (11 for and 17 against). Career-wise, Hamhuis averages around a plus-2 for 300 minutes (roughly 13 for and 11 against).

Of course, goals stats over small minutes samples aren't great indicators, but that kind of swing in a defenseman's stats doesn't usually spell good things.

Probably better to stick with Edler and Hamhuis as a good "one-two punch" on the left side of the top-4.

Erik Cole and Teemu Selanne come to mind.

Hamhuis-Corrado !

It would be awesome to have Corrado play with Hamhuis and learn some of the old dogs tricks wouldn't it.

Start of the season lineup would be

( Hansen traded for pick )

Sedin Sedin Burrows

Higgins Sutter Vrbata

Baertchi Horvat Dorsett

Prust Vey Virtanen

Kennins

Edler Tanev

Hamhuis Corrado

Sbisa Webber

Bart

After deadline lineup would be.

( trade Vrbata, Prust, Hamhuis Higgins for picks and 4th line center )

Sedin Sedin Virtanen

Baertchi Horvat Burrows

Kennins Sutter Vey

Gaunce 4thlinecntr Dorsett

Jones

Edler Tanev

Sbisa Corrado

Bart Webber

Pedan

Finish out of the playoffs for good draft position. Top 15 plus all the other picks acquired in trades and let benning do what we hired him for. Draft studs.

Sign Hamhuis and Lucic on July 1st.

Rebuild complete.

Edit: 2016-17 lineup

Baertchi Horvat Virtanen

Sedin Sedin Lucic

Kennins Sutter Shinkaruk

Gaunce Cassels Dorsett

Grenier

Edler Tanev

Hamhuis Corrado

Chychrun Sbisa

Pedan

A Edler-Hamhuis has never really shown to be that effective, especially considering the caliber of players they are. They are more effective split up, providing at least two solid pairings instead of trying to make a dominant top pairing. Edler-Tanev on the other hand complimented eachother nicely and worked well as our top pairing.

Edler-Tanev

Hamhuis-Sbisa

Bartkowski/Weber/Corrado/etc.

Cannot be as effective as Edler with Tanev: Leftie with rightie, plus Edler finally got his confidence back last year with Tanev. Would force compromises everywhere - Canucks finally have enough RHS D-men, and would force a RHS-RHS pairing. Why screw with success?

You guys think corrado can make the roster? For sure he'll get some games in but will he be able to take a roster spot from Bartkowski or weber?

I think Corrado has a very good shot of making the team full time this year. For the most part, he looked ready to go in the games he did get in.
