AV's Coin
It looks like the stock traders are in full force now on this thread. Is anyone interested in splitting off a new thread for "Trading the Stock Market" so investors dont have to wade through the daily posts and updates on a stocks price movement? Or is everyone happy with the way things are? (I would add a poll but dont know how) Appreciate anyone's input. (investors or traders or both) Personally I am looking to start some day trading a few hours before work and am in the research stage and will move to paper trading soon. I think a separate thread would be beneficial for ideas, research, strategies, rips etc that focus on technical analysis. Gator
Any experienced day traders on here willing to help a beginner out? I made a wealth simple TFSA account and grew my initial $50 deposit to $79.10 in a week. I started with the small deposit just to help me get a feel for it and see if I can be successful and I feel I could be. However I'm not naive and I know I'm new to this and know so little about it other than trying to buy low/sell high. So I'm hoping to pick some brains a bit for more experienced traders. Also looking for some long term investments so if your not a day trader and want to give me some insight on some penny stocks that you expect to really take off in a few years (very curious about cannabis stocks) I'm all open ears! Happy investing my fellow Canuck fans! Edited June 7, 2020 by Brock Botanen

For me I like the way it is now.. there is a bit of both worlds which has helped me learn a lot. I am more of a long term investor but I also dabble in the swing trades with small amounts. I am not a day trader and don't really have an interest in becoming one so I would prefer if this thread didn't turn into that. Besides, CDC isn't really the place for the down to the minute information day trading requires, twitter and live youtube feeds are probably better suited for day trading. There are plenty here to learn from with experience in both trading and investing.

I like the way it is now and I too and predominantly am a long term holder but theres an always an oppurtunity to make more money, why not right? For me the comments in this thread, you get an idea what to look for just to add on your watch list. Of course you have to do your DD, not just go by strangers opinions, but at least you got something to track you know what I mean? Theres so many stocks available, at least you can get some insight on what to watch. On another note, any thoughts on US Expresspa? It seems like it might be a good deal (Ugh missed it when it was under 1$) for mid short term since they are converting their spas into covid testing sites. Kind of figured if the test is successful in JFK in might spill out to their other locations?
Boudrias
I like the idea of due diligence but that process is often bobby trapped with 'nuanced' info based on the provider. Like you I am mostly a long term holder. I will overweight a sector if it is favorable, like gold right now. As a fundamental investor I crunch numbers from 3 or 4 sources. But who am I kidding I am not an accountant and I rarely go into the financial statements of the companies I buy or sell. That being the case then why not simply buy sector ETF's and allocate according to trend? I use ETF's to overweight a sector but are not my core holds. I hold company stocks that are leaders in their sectors. Have owned some for decades. What I mismanage is dealing with the capital gains they build up. I.Am.Ironman
At the end of the day we all know there are risks. We all (should) do our own DD even though there has been money made here recently. I like that people like Ari and NucksPats post companies that I didn't even have on my radar. Some I just have a look and decide it isn't for me or I add to my watchlist or I invest. Only 10-15% of my portfolio is the short term swing trades. Once things settle down I will be looking for longer term dividend paying stocks.. those just aren't as abundant right now. A lot of companies are, rightfully imo, cutting dividends

NucksPatsFan
Lots of opportunity upcoming this week. Finishing off some DD with a glass bottle of red and will post later tonight what I'm targeting personally, and others that I personally didn't like the DD on but some else may. ----- As for the thread, I'm happy to keep everything in here. If daily updates/hourly updates/sometimes minute updates ( @yoshiyoshi and I had quite the run on GNUS that one day haha) are not wanted, I can certainly stop on my end. If I'm gonna profit I certainly want my fellow Canucks fans to profit as well which is why I usually post my entries/exits in here for anyone that is interested to look up themselves. I'll also willingly participate in a new thread.
