Anyone in on GEVO, ICLN or GEOV

I've got a pinky-toe dipped into ICLN, mostly because I wanted to learn more about its holdings. I find that my motivation is stronger when I put a small amount into an ETF; makes me more focused on learning about the companies within that ETF and then I can reinvest or establish a position with specific stocks.

Knowing when to take profits has always been an Achilles heel for me.  Perhaps I'll regret it, but with that said, I sold 30% of my PLUG position at $71.30 today....My entry price was $16.10.

Either way, it was a good day for me.

Congrats. I sold PLUG before the 1.5 billion investment. I had a really good entry point but once again sold early. I tried reading up on lines of resistance/support but couldn't find enough information on how such lines get defined in the first place.

For PDAC, it's about $11... so only $1 more than NAV.  It hasn't taken off yet.

If you really want to chance it... you can always play the warrants.  But should the company just decide to walk away, you get nothing for the warrants whereas for the commons you still get back 10 bucks.

For IPOF... lots of hype, but the guy involved has had a few SPAC that has turned out well.  SPCE and OPEN are now both over $25.  Assuming IPOF follows the same trend, even entering at $14 will be okay.  Of course, with all SPAC, it can always fall through, so you could easily lose a third of your investment.

A lot depends on if you're just hoping to sell on the news or if you're hoping to hold as long as possible to maximize value (whatever/whenever that may be).  Warrants are cheaper and has more room for massive gains... but risky.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I envision it's probably a good idea if you have the money, to just scope out the major SPACs that are still near the strike price. Do your DD and make sure they have good management and just put your money into them all. The ones that get a deal - you're minting. The ones that don't - you lose only a little bit. Good risk/reward ratio and takes very little effort.

So, how many SPAC's fail? Seems like that's rare...and if so, wouldn't buying warrants make sense all the time? I mean can a SPAC share price go up but the warrant price go down?

I've seen it happen at times, but normally the warrants and commons track each other quite closely. I've strictly been buying warrants lately. Cheaper and easier gains in my eyes. But yes, risky of course as rly, you are investing in nothing essentially, and they could turn out worthless.

And you can sell them at any time like a regular stock, correct?

How do you know when these SPAC's will declare who it is? And when you find out, isn't it then too late? Might gamble on IPOF

My wife and myself agreed to pull out some personal money and bought 500 shares of ICLN. I can't casino with it because it's ours and not my personal fun money.

I've read that about 2/3 of SPAC fails... but that's just what I've read floating around on Reddit.  Not sure if it included random small SPAC no one has ever heard of or how it's counted.  But assuming you're just focusing on the warrants that are backed by experienced teams and by large corporations, it should be much safer.

I guess it is theoretically possible for warrants to drop if stock prices goes up, but it has to be very specific circumstances.

Examples would be:

- The management team/voters forcing warrants to be cashed out at a low price

- Warrants expiring very soon and it's not meeting strike price

It's more likely for stock prices to go down and warrants going up as there may be arbitrage opportunities.

The problem with warrants for SPAC (or in general) is that it's pretty much all or nothing.  I would be lying if I say I've never been burned by warrants before.

If you find newly split warrants for under $2, it's not a bad idea to throw some "gambling" money on it.

If CCIV confirms this Lucid rumour this stock will be a guaranteed 4 bagger at or before merger date.

I don't think I've ever been more confident in merger rumour. The DD on this one is locked in really tight.

Too late to buy in,?

Got into the warrants @ $1.25~

But sold have of them last week for $1.45... d'oh....

Hopefully the traction and momentum will push this up a la QS where even the warrants are $30+ :towel:

I would love to be able to buy my house in Japan.

I will start reducing market exposure by month end. Hugely overvalued.

AMCI warrants are under $4 even though shares are at $18+, putting fair market value of AMCI warrants around $6.50-$7.

FUSE warrants are up higher today while commons are down.

Remember, they trade separately. Eventually they trail near where they "should" be but it's no guarantee.
