CRAZY_4_NAZZY
I really liked Steve Bernier when he was here, wasn't the scoring powerforward we had hoped but I still liked the skills he brought. Hope he finds a home in Brooklyn this season.

canucklehead44
Wow finishes second on his team in goals, good size and can hit, not over the hill by any stretch and can't even get a real contract? Good move by the Isles, I like Bernier.
Z Hockey
Anyone else think maybe they can't get Nelson signed and S. Bernier could be his cheap replacement, Islanders deciding to move Nelson instead of not having enough cap and risk losing one of R. Strome or Okposo next season. They need to move Grabner ASAP IMO, he still can get back to 30 goals and his cap can fit elsewhere and the Isles don't need it, they might need to move Nelson and Grabner with also Nielsen, M. Martin, and Cizikas as FA's next year. Lee-Tavares-R. Strome Grabner-Nielsen-Okposo Kulemin-Grabovksi-J. Bailey ??? M. Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck S. Bernier

Coconuts
Here's hoping he can catch on with a team, always liked Bernier even though he wasn't what many hoped he would be here.

Ilya Mikheyev
Bernier was great whenever actually given a steady opportunity with the Canucks. I remember when he had 4 goals in 6 games when the Canucks beat the Kings in the 2010 playoffs, despite averaging like 11 minutes a game or something. Still don't think he was given a consistent enough chance to mesh with the Sedins. Looked so close when given a chance, but AV just wouldn't have it. No space for him now though. NYI only has Okposo - Grabner - Clutterbuck down the RW, unless you include Petrov, so Bernier is a pretty good guy to have on a PTO.
Mathew Barzal
Not the craftiest player around but he has a nose for the net and is always in good position to bang home any loose pucks. Could be a good pick up.
wshdrvvn
He had arguably the best season of his career last year, this could be a very solid depth move for the Isles

Good move by the Isles, I like Bernier. I think he will be in tough to actually land a contract and make the Islanders though, a lot of players in the mix there. Monty
I think he will be in tough to actually land a contract and make the Islanders though, a lot of players in the mix there. Exactly this. The Isles are ridiculously deep. IF he makes the team, he'll be 4th line minutes. Best case scenario for him.
