MONTREAL On Saturday, the Canadiens announced that forward Tomas Fleischmann had been invited to training camp on a professional tryout contract.

A second-round pick of the Detroit Red Wings back in 2002, Fleischmann split the 2014-15 campaign between the Florida Panthers and the Anaheim Ducks, amassing eight goals and 17 points in 66 regular season games. He also registered one assist in six playoff games with the Ducks this past season.

The Koprivnice, Czech Republic native boasts 123 goals and 310 points in 581 career NHL games with the Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, Panthers and Ducks.

Still a 20-30 point player who can play on any line, in the center or the wing. Pretty surprised he didn't get a contract actually, more surprised about Fleischmann than Goc, Lapierre, or even Boyes TBH. He's played a 4th line role before and done well, but still only 3 seasons removed from a 61 point season (he led his team in points that year).

Fleischmann has also played with Plekanec in a few international tourneys. In the 2010 Olympics, and actually for a while in the 2013 World Cup Tlustly - Plekanec - Fleischmann was a line, I remember at least one game Plekanec getting 3 assists with that line (the year the Sedins won it with Sweden).

If they're looking for more offense, this isn't the worst PTO IMO.

The reason montreal cant score is because of their coach, the same coach who tried to make Pittsburgh a Defence first team. Therrien is a bum and needs to be removed, otherwise habs will be stuck in purgatory. Plenty of offensive talent being brought in, but what good is it if the system is outdated by 5 years

The Habs have a lot of dynamic offensive players. They've also got Carey Price. So if you can play outstanding defence, the hockey IQ to create things offensively, especially with the guys they have, will come.
