Update: They still don't know where she is.

-They have found a white van which they think is connected, but they still need to confirm, I guess. They have arrested someone, but will not release his name. No one has been charged yet, but they have been arrested and that's why the name has not been released yet. The suspect they arrested is 22 years old. Suspect was local from the Blairmore area.

Thank you for the update, Weasel. I'm sure the RCMP are going to want to make sure all the 'I's are dotted and that the 'T's are well crossed before they announce anymore information/names etc. Also, testing done on the van itself will take some time.

RIP little one :( Certainly not the outcome we were all hoping for.

Edit: No positive ID of remains found but the amber alert has been cancelled which is pretty telling in itself.

Edit #2:

Conflicting reports about a positive ID......this one says it has been made :(

EDMONTON — RCMP victims services confirmed at a public vigil in Blairmore Tuesday night the remains of two-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette have been found.

RCMP also announced the Amber Alert, which was issued shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, had been dropped.

Sources tell Global News the girl’s remains were found close to town of Blairmore where she went missing.

Earlier Tuesday, the RCMP said they took a 22-year-old man into custody in relation to the girl’s disappearance. He was also a suspect in the death of the girl’s father, 27-year-old Terry Blanchette, whose body was found inside the family home.

“That person’s been arrested in association with both the homicide and disappearance of Hailey,” said Supt. Tony Hamori at an afternoon press conference.

No... I was just talking to my mother about this saying that I hope they find her.

RIP baby girl. Gah, so devastating when babies are snatched away like this.

Reminded me of my cousin's daughter when I used to look after her - cute as a button like this lil one. I was so hoping that this would end differently. That poor sweet child.

Awful tragedy.

The killer will most likely get 25 years with parole if he gets convicted. He will be fed 3 times a day, all the TV he can watch in his own cell and a nice gym to work out in. They also get a canteen of items to order in pretty much anything. They get access to Internet, private home visits on prison grounds and paid salary for in prison jobs. He will be allowed passes from time to time to visit outside of the pen once he stays inside for a bit and eventually be in a half way house in a neighbourhood like yours and mine (you would be surprised if you ever knew where they put these places). Oh and he can change his name once he gets out.

I used to be a federal prison guard and hated seeing this.

Maybe there will be some prison justice for him when others find out what he did. I hope.

This is just.. wrong. Told the wife too. Just floored.

Shed a tear for this girl and her family. No one should have to go through this. Just disgusting.

I wish I could console them (as someone who lost his dad and one of his sisters), but there's nothing I can say or do. All I can say is, time heals all wounds, but won't ever remove the hole left from their lives and their hearts.

Hopefully every person in whatever prison he is sent to is told very specifically what this oxygen thief did and hopefully they make his life a living hell.

R.I.P Hailey

I have two kids just over a year old and cannot even begin to comprehend what that family must be going through losing the father and a beautiful little girl.
