oh my bad I thought he had 1 more year that he could be sent down.

Normally he would have, but since the games he played in his first call up were in the shortened lockout season, they got prorated and went over the limit. That pushed his waivers eligibility up a year.

I just can't get excited about this team. Hopefully, the young guys (and Markstrom) have a good year.

Why can't you get excited ? There is plenty to be excited about, like Horvats sophomore year, Baertschi and Markstrom's opportunity. Then there's the questions, like can Sutter improve on his career high 21 goals? Is Miller capable of holding the load for 55-60 games? Who centers the 4th line come game 1? So many things to be eager for.

I personally think this team looks pretty good from a structural stand point. I believe we could suprise people if our chemistry works.

Sure the young guys (Baertschi, Horvat, Markstrom, maybe Virtanen) will be fun to watch. Personally, I think the roster looks worse than it did last year (factoring in relative ages).

I've got low expectations. Hopefully, I will be pleasantly surprised.

I actually think we look better at forward than we have since like 2012. Goaltending is largely a wash. The D-core though....

Sutter's an upgrade on Bonino

Baertschi's likely an upgrade on Matthias

Bart/Frankie for Bieksa -- addition by subtraction

Prust for Kassian -- consistency, removal of distraction

Horvat, Kenins, Vey all in second season

Jake to bring speed and physicality

Looks overall better, if not just more stable and reliable, and better compete level.

I disagree, but I sure hope you're correct.

Can anyone tell me how cap compliant the team is? and how many contracts the team has signed for the year?

Is there space to pick up players through waivers this year?

After reading the Rangers issues with Dylan McIlrath, I was wondering if the Canucks had the cap space and contract space to pick up some players like that. Not necessarily McIlrath (although a top 10 pick and 6"5 is appealing).

Last year Benning did a great job of hiding Markstrom, wondering if this year he could pick up some quality players for a good price.
