Well.. the tl;dr answer is.. - They make these pacts not to have sex - Not having sex, or having any sex hormonal release (i.e. masturbation), especially in males, screws with the hormones, and thus the brain, of males - Increases the odds of doing something stupid like molesting kids, or having gay sex, even if not gay (like what happens in prison) If these people weren't so busy preaching about nature rather than understanding it, they would have a more logical approach that doesn't include "shut your ???? mouth or go to hell" (such as Crimen Sollicitationis & seal of the confessional). People would just be able to be honest and leave the judging to their deity, rather than sweep things under the rug to avoid evolving as better people. Well, each priest willingly sought a position that prevented them from being with a woman for the rest of their life. Most "sexually balanced" (for lack of a better term) men would likely say, "Thanks, but no thanks". Speaking of the forbiddance of marriage... 1 Timothy 4:1-3 (NIV) The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods... ...Which reminds me - no meat today guys!
