rizzuto&hatoum
You can see it now - the Canucks torch is being handed over to the Ontario 200-foot boys - namely Horvat, Gaunce, McCann, Cassels. (Maybe add in Hutton.) The Swedish influence on the roster makeup is being replaced by the Ontario influence. That Stanley Cup roster is coming along. luckylager
Keep 'em coming, nothing against our veteran Swedes, but I love seeing more Canadians on the roster. We all know those pesky "stats" on the predominant nationality of cup winning teams... I'd like to see more BC boys come our way too. McCann's been awesome and seems like he'll be a good Canuck in the future, but first impressions (his reaction to being drafted here) are hard to overcome, it would have been better to beam like Virtanen. PhillipBlunt
Best players available who play with heart and passion. Who cares where they are from? Linden - Alberta Bure - Russia Quinn - Ontario Naslund - Sweden Henrik - Sweden Daniel - Sweden Kesler - USA Bertuzzi - Ontario Luongo - Quebec When Lucic and Kane come home the BC contigent should be happy. Vitanen is a better winger, McCann can out center Virt. I think they'll compliment each other nicely in the future. But if I had to bet in which one would risk his teeth for the team, I'm going with hometown hero, JV.

Mario Lemieux didn't get out of his seat when Pttsburgh called his name at the draft and he's still there at age 50. McCann seems happy to be here now, might as well forget draft day. He's no Mario, but I see your point, and I'm sure I'll get over it the very first time he throws himself in front of a puck for us.

I thought he clarified many times on Twitter already that he meant he was just (a bit?) disappointed that he was supposed to be drafted higher according to the mock draft, but he ended up being drafted lower in the real draft... McCann thought he would go higher in the draft. He was not upset at all that he was drafted by Vancouver. After that he had a chip on his shoulder wanting to prove those teams that passed him up wrong while making sure that Vancouver picked the right player back in 2014.
