Wow, going to be honest did not expect my team to win the series let alone sweep the series.

I guess defense is really > offense, we held the top scoring team in the West to 6 goals in 4 games!

Good series Tigs, looking forward to seeing how the rest of the 1st round plays out!

NEW YORK RANGERS YEAR END AWARDS

MVP - Vladimir Tarasenko (37 Goals 27 Assists 64 Points)

Once again the uncontested most valuable player the Rangers had. He finished tied for 9th in points tied 4th in goals and was appointed the Captain after Derick Brassard was dealt. Over a full 82 game schedule Vladimir was on pace for 52 goals and 91 points.

TOP DEFENSEMAN - Mike Green (8 Goals 27 Assists 35 Points)

Once again the Rangers top D-man is Mike Green. His production dropped off this year from last, but the whole teams production disappeared this year. Still on pace for 50 points, he produced at a good clip. Mike certainly made his case for a big pay-day as his contract is expiring at the end of this year.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - Oliver Bjorkstrand (5 Goals 9 Assists 16 Points)

Oliver played on the third line the entire year, he was the right wing for the entire season. The season didn't go as planned but in the latter part of the year Oliver was a huge part of the bottom six scoring.

MOST EXCITING PLAYER -  Vladimir Tarasenko

Once again Vladimir being the only 30 goal scorer on the Rangers and most of the offensive production starting with him, Tarasenko earns himself another most exciting player award.

UNSUNG HERO - Brandon Saad (19 Goals 29 Assists 48 Points)

Second in points on the Rangers, Brandon has lived in the shadow of Vladimir during their time together.  Brandon had produced consistently over that time, and played very well with little to no recognition.

HIGHEST GOAL TOTAL - Vladimir Tarasenko (37 Goals)

HIGHEST ASSIST TOTAL - Logan Couture (33 Assists) *Detroit and New York

HIGHEST POINT TOTAL - Vladimir Tarasenko (64 Points)

TOP GOALIE - Sergei Bobrovsky

YEAR END HONOURABLE MENTIONS AND SUMMARY -

The year didn't end as the Rangers wanted to, missing the playoffs. GM Jaku made moves adding veterans all year to help bolster the team for a playoff push only to miss it. Jaku has said since missing the playoffs that he would be bringing changes to the team to make it back to playoffs. Only one year removed from the conference finals Jaku wasn't happy and quite surprised the team didn't make it. All in all he feels like his team performed well at times but overall the season could have gone a lot better.

The Rangers would like to mention the performances of

Patrick Marleau- He put up the only other 20 goal effort on the Rangers.

Shayne Gostisbehere - First year ins top 4 role and he played very well, posting 22 points.

Logan Couture - Acquired earlier in  year to fill the number 1 Center role, he played very well with Saad and Tarasenko. He put up several multi-point games and filled the role very well.
