Patrick Kane
As we make our way to the Stanley Cup Finals, let's recap on how Dallas and the Islanders have done thus far. Dallas: Dallas had a couple game 7 scares, but have clutched through. Ovechkin as expected is scoring at will, set up by fellow Russian Evgeny Kuznetsov. 2nd line playing extremely well, with Etem, Panarin, Svechnikov combining for 28pts. Deadline aquisition Antoinne Vermette has scored some huge goals, and rejuvinated the 3rd line. Hjalmarsson and Pokka were assigned as the 1st pairing by GM Canuck Surfer, and have played solid thus far. The big story is Petr Mrazek, who didn't have the greatest season, but we all know his pedigree and upside, and will win the Conn Smythe if his team can win this series. Islanders: The New York Islanders as usual are lead by Seguin, Turris and Palat, although Ondrej Palat has dropped the ball offensively, and the slack was picked up by Joe Thornton. Bottom pairing has chipped in with 10pts, one of Islanders biggest strengths. Lance Bouma has matched his regular season totals already in the playoffs, proving himself as a playoff performer. Elias Lindholm is injured at the moment, and will likely not play in the finals. John Gibson has played really well, finally developing into the goaltender GM Caboose had envisioned him. Seguin likely will walk away the Smythe if the Islanders win, unless a huge clutch performance by Turris, Lindholm or sophomore Samson.

On D at the start of the year it seemed natural to match compelling physical talents Klefbom & David Savard as our top pair. Each 6'2''/6'3"" between 212 & 220 lbs with speed and agility as our top pair. And offer super sophomore Ville Pokka, 215 lbs but not as tall the gift of controlled match ups and shelter of the vet Hjalmarsson to bring him along. Savard + Klefbom did kill it! But by the end of the regular season we were scoring at will, but still letting in too many goals. Hjalmarsson & Pokka had even passed our top pair in performance statistics. So it was just our belief that Pokka had developed enough and Hjally's experience, plus bringing in Vermette, would give just that extra grittier edge to get goals down in our end. Some tweaks in your inbox again to deal with Seguin and his team.
