[PGT] Flames vs Canucks 3-2 OT Loss

Hodgson!!

McCann will be pulled so WD can have a more reliable defensive player. I hope this isn't the case but that has been his MO and the brass all emphasize defense over offense. Unfortunately, that would eliminate the offensive upside McCann brings. It appears the Nucks aren't big fans of the old adage "the best defense is a good offense". Hard for the other team to walk all over you when they are afraid of your offensive threat and/or hemmed in their own end.

Dib, it better not come to that. McCann's speed up and down the ice has been one of the team's better assets in the first 2 games. It's obvious he's not one of the players causing problems. If the coaching staff starts going full-coward here and starts curtailing the kids, I'll be downright pissed.

We shall see....Ive seen way more that I like from Sven than dislike...He's got good chemistry with Bo (he got the assist on Bo's goal),and is good on the 2nd unit PP.

I didn't like the Sven/Bo/Vrby line as a whole in the first period, but its only the second game of the season..You don't throw the baby out with the bath water..Patience!

Sven is fine on the pp where puck possession is easy but not great 5/5. Yes it's early but why is he on the second anyway? We can't have two soft parameter players on the same line and bata out ranks Sven. Sorry but he just shouldn't be there or we need to drop vrbata down to the third.

One thing could be..

Sven-bo-virt

Burr-McCann-bata (switch sides?)

But we'd be looking at a 2a and 2d situation and I'm not sure McCann is ready for that kind of roll or if WD would wand to depart from a true second line. I get the feeling he wants a checking line.

I don't really understand the criticism of Baertschi and Vrbata.

Baertschi has added an element to our powerplay, with that superb passing. Who cares if he's a perimeter player, when he can do cross crease passes from the perimeter? Bo is the one who gets in the dirty spots.

Vrbata disinterested? He got 5 shots last game. He got chances with the Sedins, with Bo and Sven, and on the powerplay.

I understand the concern, but the criticism has been so biased and one-sided.

Weber looked awful. They should only dress one of Weber or Sbisa per game or there's too many liabilities on the ice that makes it difficult to mask...

For forwards, I would go with

Sedin Sedin Sutter

Baerstchi Horvat Virtanen

Burrows McCann Vrbata

Hansen Cracknell Dorsett /Prust

Prust Hamhuis bear don't look like nhlers

Hamhuis was awful ... Again. sole reason they got the second goal was because of him the Ot goal you can see him watching it go it. Should have waived him and kept corrado or biega. They couldn't be any worse.

Prust is a total waste of a roster spot cap space and a contract, totally and completely ineffective. No one except Benning is surprised.

Bear the next vey a waste of a second rounder good thing he was gifted his spot because he has done nothing to deserve it.

I can only see Sven in the top 6,...With Hutton,Bartkowski and McCann,he has brought a speed element to the Canucks which has been sorely lacking.

This California trip will be a good indication of what Sven can handle (along with players like McCann)...I'd like to see them try Jake back on the 2nd line again..maybe they can recreate what they did against the Oilers in preseason.

The end result of Saturdays game was a bit of a letdown, but if you had told me we could have got 3 out of a possible 4 points..I would gladly take it.

He keeps playing this way nobody's going to wAnt him. He's not the same player as 3-4 years ago. And besides Benning will trade him for a 5th or 7th so really what's the difference.

You're stupid. He looked better with the Sedins than anyone else except maybe Tanev.

Apparently, so is the praise you have for Vrbata.

He had a few chances to score. If he isn't producing, he's useless to the team. And he plays scared. Those are the problems with Vrbata.

Waiving Hamhuis is a stupid idea. Go back to bed, combover

Watching Sbisa is like watching a roulette wheel, you dont know what you are going to get

Weber is an AHL d man

Bartkowski looks like he can skate given the room, but he is a project

Hamhuis has regressed

Tanev looks like a NHL dman

Edler - some days he looks like a star, some days he looks like he swapped sweaters with Sbisa

Hutton - good so far but can he keep this up

Bottom line- this is probably amongst the worst d cores we have had since the 90s.

Something that puts everything in perspective: Hutton gets a couple nice assists, looks like he can skate, can make tape to tape break out passes and he looks like a star on that blue line. This is what a normal top 4 dman should look like! Yet on this blue line he stands out...

Enjoy watching the kids this year, dont expect much else from this team with that back end.

31 goals and 62 points says he's not useless to the team. When he's not producing he's still applying offensive pressure, and he's much better defensively than people give him credit for.

People are mad cause he sucked in the playoffs, but he got 4 points.

Playing passionately and getting 11 shots through 2 games against the team that eliminated you should not garner such hate.
