NazzyHankBo
Guaranteed that the league doesn't want them to get another one. It does nothing to help spread young talent around the weaker franchises and therefore market the game in areas that need marketing. If there's one year I would throw out a tampering conspiracy it would be this year. Its getting really annoying that Calgary and Edmonton keep getting high picks and potential generational players, while our team is doing it the hard way, via late picks and drafting well.If Matthews or Chychrun end up in Calgary or Edmonton I will puke

Alot of things need to go right to win the cup even if you do have that much young talent.

Mr.DirtyDangles
READING COMPREHENSION = MY POINTSince you're TOO THICK TO GET IT Here's the coles notes1. Post said age should be considered in voting in the Calder2. I said it isn't usually and GAVE LINDEN VS LEETCH AS AN EXAMPLE3. Clearly, if AGE WAS CONSIDERED, THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY LINDEN WOULD HAVE WON - THE VOTING WAS VERY CLOSE I REMEMBER BECAUSE THERE WERE ARTICLES ABOUT IT4. My POINT WAS SIMPLE - It should be considered but that EXAMPLE shows it generally IS NOTSo maybe get over 'yourself' and realize you don't COMPREHEND POINTS VERY WELL.. Angry Troll Alert !!! DeNiro
Agreed but it makes our road that much tougher. Mathews and McDavid or Matthews on Calgary pretty much guarantees us problems for a decadeIt would definitely make them a much better team, but I mean look at Colorado, NYI, and Tampa Bay.Tons of young top pick talent and there's no guarantee they'll get a cup. Some teams have all that talent and spend those players prime years trying to find an elite goalie or to fill out a D-core.I personally like what the Canucks are building. A good mix of talent and role players, not just a group of young stars.

Benning has done a nice job of filling the cupboard. Pittsburgh is another example of what happens when / if you actually win but have a couple of generational players, they want cash and it handcuffs you. BUT, they won a cup....so. Googlie
I'm just saying, impact to his team, the fact Linden had NOTHING around him, and I actually had season tickets that year. He was deserving of the Calder, how many rookies get 30 goals with nothing around them?I wouldn't call this nothing:http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0000391989.htmlpretty stout defensive corps with Reinhart, Nordmark, Lidster, Butcher, Melnyk, Benning, Snepts and Guy. We'd gladly give up a 2nd round pick for any of these today.

Its not a cock swinging contest about who was better Leetch of Linden it was about how AGE had no bearing on the voting in the calder for the LAST TIME Anyone alive and watching the team at that time is well aware of the controversy of the calder win at the time DESPITE THE FACT LEETCH WAS ALSO DESERVING AND HAD MORE POINTS..THE ISSUE WAS ABOUT AGE AND EXPERIENCE.Jesus SMH

Anyway an argument with you would be pointless, you get far to aggressive when someone doesn't agree with you.

Googlie
you clearly weren't around to watch them play lolReinhart played well but was at the end of his career because of his back injuriesLidster had 22 ptsMost of Nordmark's assists were second assists, he never 'drove' the play, and if you look at his career that is pretty obviousNot sure of your point but we sucked bad, we were under .500 and Trevor had no real offensive help other than Skriko who led the team with 66 points friend. The vast majority of our players had a (-) +/-I was there...I remember it lolOh, I was there my friend, 12 rows up at the visitors blueline, right in front of the very english lady who perfected the "come on TREVAAAAAAAAH" yell right in my ear (Swedish husband, very nice couple). I had to counter with a stentorian "Let's go, Sergio" after the big trade that brought him here (see my avatar)Yes, we sucked, but took the eventual Cup champions to 7 games in the first round (yes, with a point a game performance from Trevor as well as Brian Bradley).I am not disagreeing that Trevor's performance was stellar - and in my opinion also more deserving of the Calder than Leech - but the point I was trying to make was that our defensive group that year was a decent contributing group with 30 goals collectively (and Reinhart's back didn't flare until 2 seasons later - in Trevor's sophomore year Paul led in scoring with 17 goals and 40 assists). Barry Pederson's lingering injury hurt us in Trevor's rookie year (previous year he was almost point a game), as did Tony Tanti's decline from his previous year's more than a point a game.
