deadendpath
Been out of the PC gaming world since Destiny came out. Curious to know what games are a must have off of Steam? I've got CS 1.6 and GO already.

g_bassi13
I mean there aren't many. Most of the best games you can play on PC are traditionally just ports of games you can also find on consoles. Getting them on PC is typically no worse an option, but it makes it harder to decipher what exactly is a must buy on PC, when there aren't really too many exclusives to PC.You've mentioned CS, which is a good one for a shooter.Really it depends on what your genre is. The particulars in exclusives are typically strategy and adventure games, those are the ones you can't find on console. My favourite strategy game is XCOM Enemy Unknown, but that one again is not a PC exclusive. The best one in that regard is Civilization V, but it depends on how you feel about very slow based turn based games. Company of Heroes 2 is better if you're into more conventional warfare and faster paced strategy. Total War Shogun 2 is a good one for wide sprawling combat in a feudal setting. The new Starcraft 2 expansion is coming out in a couple of days, if that series is your thing.Otherwise most exclusives are point and click adventures, of which there are still plenty of good ones I would recommend to people, but it's a little rare that people are into them, so I don't elaborate unless asked to.CRPGs are a pretty resurgent genre with the help of kickstarter, but 2 of the best ones, Wasteland 2 and Divinity: Original Sin both received enhanced editions, which are again, across all platforms now, and certainly aren't exactly the best games to put a new rig to a test. Pillars of Eternity is a good one you can't find anywhere else, and is in the most classic late 90's, early 2000's mould as a modern game can usually get. The one thing I personally use Steam for is to buy Indie games,of which there are a lot of cheap options with varied types of gameplay. But again it's so broad that it's hard to recommend things without a spectrum of genres to focus on. Tower defence games? Action platformers? Puzzle games? Choose your own adventures? Multiplayer shooters? Co-op games?I'd say my favourite indie games personally that can be found on Steam are Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten, and Bastion. Among many others. I excluded big name AAA titles because they won't be things you haven't heard of, and again that you couldn't have found on any platform, but a warning rather than a recommendation, don't buy Arkham Knight. The game is a mess of a release on PC, lol.

Caboose
Rome: Total War is phenomenal in my opinion.Don't touch Rome II with a 10 foot pole, however.Civilization V is a great grand strategy for dummies game but I personally prefer games such as Crusader Kings or Europa Universalis.Paper's, Please is my biggest time sink right now.
