messier's_elbow
So is management dumb enough to put Miller back into place as the starter? If they do it might help the tank. Markstrom should be the starter now but that leaves a 6 million back up (puke)

Neko
I'm impressed at how significantly Jacob has improved, he's definitely a starter now, we should hold onto Miller and let Jacob develop and maybe share time next season just like Luongo/Schneider did. This is the most sensible post on this thread. Don't pass the torch to Markstrom until he proves he won't drop it with his blocker

Maniwaki Canuck
If Markstrom can be a 1A for the rest of the year and Miller a 1B, that would be excellent, then next year, a 60/40 ratio in Markstrom's favour. Jacob still has a few technical issues to work on with puck-tracking and his glove hand, but is basically ready for prime time. He's the main reason for the turn-around on the recent home stand, and deserves a more prominent role going forward.
aqua59
Markstrom may have just taken the torch and Miller might have to be the one trying to get it back. Markstrom will be the real story by the end of the season. He's getting better every game. He's making this team his.
CeeBee51
No need to rush things. If Markstrom keeps rolling Miller can always be traded mid next year.
FijianCanuck
Hear this crap all to often. It's one thing being a backup and playing good for a few games but becoming the starter and handling bulk of the load is different. MaximAfinogenov
What happens again when you bench a $6m goalie who still has term left on his contract? Oh right, you kill his trade value. The plan for the Canucks has to be to trade Miller either in the off-season or before the deadline next season. Miller has played well in spurts this year, and should continue to play well if he doesn't get overplayed. WD should simply ride the hot hand until the end of the year, and then re-evaluate in the summer. Also... first post since 2009! Yikes

Who is going to want a guy who hasn't had a great season and is outplayed by the back up goalie, plus makes 6 million a year?. Chances are even if management tried to trade him its unlikely a team will take him. If anything he would be bought out and we would have to retain some of his contract or if we trade him part of the deal would be like Luongo retaining some of his contract as part of the deal. I have liked some of Bennigs moves but Miller was never one of them and Vrbata was questionable too. But right now they should go back and forth keep them both rested and whoever plays better give them a 2 to 1 game playing ratio.
riffraff
Millers contract will haunt us.....id like to see him traded but I can't see it happening....overpaid, overtermed, injury prone and aging.
canucklehead44
It is good to have a veteran like Miller as insurance and to split games with Markstrom. Lack was lights out, and when Lu got traded he sucked. I think it just adds a nice level of security until Markstrom is really ready to run with it. Think of it this way. Next season, Markstrom will be playing like a 6 million dollar goalie earning 1.6, and Miller will be playing like a 1.6 million dollar goalie making 6. It all works out in the end. Hockey is a BUSINESS! Miller has not been playing elite lately, time to give marky a shot and maybe change this teams mind-set. well? I will say one thing, yeterdays game the cameras caught Miller storming down the hall way. He should of waited at the bench and gave some pats to the guy. Miller is a media disaster just waiting to happen, if he doesn't steal a few. Brace yourselfs team1040 is gearing up.
