Pass the torch to Markstorm already

why did you reply here then?:o

does Marky get the torch in two seasons, or does it pass him by and go to Demko?

Imo, we haven't seen enough of Marky to crown him a #1 anytime soon.  I hope he can make the leap before Miller's contract runs out though.  Demko will be a while yet.  He will likely need some time in Utica to learn the pro game and there's no guarantee he will be a #1 either.

this Demko kid looks pretty good.  In two years he might be better than Markstrom, if he's not already?

I say ride the hot hand, Miller's not getting it done like he did early in the season. Let Markstrom play against MTL if wins let him play if not go back to Miller.

the game is in Montreal.  That's got to be a start Miller will want.  I'd be shocked if he doesn't start.

seriously.  This kid just might be the one.  Marky is a stop gap.  Is he any better than Lack?  If the Canucks offered Marky and Demko in trade, which would get the better return?

yeah. k.

The "kid" is 19 years old, with a season as a starter in college under his belt, and 10 impressive games this year.

What that equals is a 19 year old goaltender, that's played well against teams/competition that might have an NHLer or two down the road playing for them.  Decent level of competition, but not the AHL and certainly not the NHL.   How many goaltenders step into the NHL at age 19?

You might want to cool your Alpo before crowning him better than Markstrom, who has 5 years of valuable (particularly for a goaltender) experience on him and no shortage of potential himself.  Who gets a better return is a weak strawman sidetrack.

Calling Markstrom a "stop gap" is nonsense - and presumes to know his ceiling.  Whether Markstrom or Demko emerge as starters in the NHL  is not known at this point - claiming Demko is already better is silly.

so you're saying Marky would get more in trade than Demko?

Yes if Mark wins play him again...Miller needs a break from all this. He can come back fresh for our homestand.

Since Demko is a 19 year old junior I'd say so. If he decides to play his senior season he is going to be 21 years old and four months when he finishes. Pretty young and he could easily decide to go the UFA route. The problem with Demko is there are no guarantees you can sign him because he is so young. It's not like he will be 24 like Brandon Tanev.
