The puck stops at hamhuis

What will we get for hammer given the canadian dollars effect on the cap?  What teams would want to trade for him if they aren't positive they can resign him at the cap hit they want?  I think

Higgins

Hamhuis

Vrbata

Trade a bottom pairing d 2 if u can. (Weber perhaps).

should be dealt

Hammer for a mid-high 2nd and a level B prospect?  Sounds scary but could be the case if he continues too struggle.  Perhaps he just needs a good partner to regain his form.  Playing with Bart or Weber isn't going make him better thats for sure.

The worst is that our two most valuable tradeable assets in Hamhuis and Vrbata are playing absolutely terrible. Either guy won't be worth much more than a second rounder or depth player at this point

Actually thought Vrbata had a great game against Toronto. Coulda had a couple goals just missed by inches. He still has pop in his step and a great shot. I think he has value.

I do think he's being misused a bit though. I understand you have to mix it up now and then, but he's not the kind of guy that's going to make others around him better. He pulls the trigger, for better or for worse. When he's hot it's great. When he's not, it can look pretty bad at times.

He seems to do well with Sedins after an extended break away from them. Daniel has morphed into more of a passer now too so we need somebody to pull the trigger. I yell at Henrik to shoot but when he does, i'm like nevermind, that was a waste . He looks like he's trying to saucer pass it into the net without hitting the back of it on half his shots -_-.

Wrong. Based on reputation alone he's worth a high pick.

Yeah maybe on reputation worth a decent pick.

I understand the sentiment that he's served us well in the past, but it's definitely been a couple years of consistent drop off. He just looks like he's playing rec hockey out there ... and he shoots like he'd be none too concerned if he never scored another goal.

Hit on Lucic makes sense, didn't realize his hips were effed long term from that. Couple ill advised ones in that series that stirred the bears.

Out: Hammer, Verbie, & Higgy

In: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, decent D prospect.

Would you be ok with this type of return? a late 1st, high 2nd, and a mid 3rd?  (borderline top 6 young d?)

Or would you hold out for 2 x 1sts and a 3rd?

I think the former is wishful thinking and the latter there's no chance. Sorry, just my opinion.

Out of the three i think vrbata has highest value at maybe a 2nd. can't imagine Higgins worth much. I personally like him but he's all filler no killer these days

I truly doubt anyone knows his value on the market. You can assume his value is so low because his play isn't what Canucks fans are used but current play but if mediocre defenders like Andrej Sekera were pulling in 1st rounders and prospects at the deadline last season, we should expect a similar return. JB just has to find the right trade partners to extract maximum value assuming they want to move him at all.

Hammer deserves way more respect. It's my opinion that if he did not go down in the Finals, we would have won the series.

Remember that game 7 Chicago game? Played one of the best performances I've seen from a defenseman.
No one could get past him.

It's becoming painful to watch more and more every game. The play almost always ends on his stick offensively. He is absolutely zero threat to score. Even when wide open on the point, it doesn't even look like he tries to lean into one. Always a soft floater that gets knocked down like it was a pass or dump. I understand that he doesn't have a great shot to begin with, but at least try to rattle one in off some shin pads. It's pathetic and sad to see.

Even in his own end or transitioning it's pretty ugly right now. I assume these are the reasons he was even in consideration for Olympic team, let alone made it. He has no creativity, always makes the most obvious play and puts pass receivers in a terrible position because everyone knows where it's going. Even the 'steady' play is gone. He turns right into checks in his own end and has no muscle or aggressiveness to recover.

I've read some stuff that we have to trade him, but I can't imagine he has any value unless it's to Babcock or to whatever team who has the d man that he had chemistry with so he could make Olympic team. I say press box him. I haven't seen a guy in a long time lose as many steps physically and mentally in such a short time frame. Maybe him and bieksa were co-depenandant and they were able to survive playing together. Will always have a soft spot for bam bam but man, those two really dropped hard and fast.

Why is it that people with 3 to 20 posts think they have the credibility to make stupid posts like this? About n Olympic gold medallist no less...

Shakes his own head in disbelief !

Exactly, since 2011 he's been a big-minute stabilizer and he's only slowed down this season.

Must be tough to be a Canuck too, knowing your fans are ready to turn on you when you make a mistake, when you are past your prime or even just slumping.  All memory of past contributions go out the window and they're ready to burn you on the stake as the scapegoat for struggles.

What because I don't post on a forum all day everyday I can't have an opinion. I'm a longtime canuck fan and I make a post now and again when I notice something. Sure it's usually when something is bothering, but don't think that's all too different from most. I also support players too, like I just did with Vrbata.

So you just look at how many posts someone has and that's your credometer? You're going to hinge your opinion on an Olympic medal where he hardly played? If you read the post, it's the last couple years that I was referring to. AKA after Olympics.

No.

I just find it disappointing /irritating that people create profiles specifically to create knee jerk, un-educated threads like this.

Hamhuis is worse than garbage. Zero offensive abilities, can't shoot the puck and now he can't even defend. I rather have a draft pick for him at the deadline, even if its a 2nd or a 3rd. Am just tired of the lazy vets on this team, aside from Hansen, Sedins and Tanev, all the vets should be traded and that would include Hamhuis and Edler too.

Hammer is still good and a top 4. He cannot be replaced easily. If you trade him the defense core will crumble around him. Definitely will trigger a rebuild mode.

Missing Sbisa has made the d look worse than it is recently.

Hammer is not good anymore, and he shouldn't even be on the top 4. He makes dumb mistakes and he costs us games in overtime. Last time was his stupid interference penalty and this time he was on ice again for the overtime goal against. He should just not play in overtime at all.

I like that a lot. Lets just get some more young guys here to get experience if we aren't going to playoffs. Guys like Gaunce and Shinkaruk should be on the team next year at least as regulars and we could use the money saved on Verbie and Hammer for a #1 D at Free agency. Love to see if we could get Tyson Barrie on our team and somehow get Zaistev to complement Hutton and Tanev. Sbisa and Bartkowski would be the bottom D along with either Pedan/Fedun or Trymakin.

How is this un-educated?  No one is saying that Hammer wasn't a great player, he is just no longer a great player...ATM he is playing like $&!#e.  Cut the superiority act and add to the discussion and stop being butt hurt.

You sure? Cause Hutton was the one on ice for the overtime goal. Sorry for making you look bad, but please don't post gibberish.
