I like to see we're getting some young depth on D, but we still lack the Stud Dman that will lead us far in the playoffs. We should stop wasting time trying to make the playoffs for a round and draft some high-end D talent.

I think we are ahead of that scenario with Hutton in his second season and Larsen pushing hard to stay this year.

It seems Juolevi and Stetcher are poised to position next year with the club.

But more-so, the added true grit of Pedan, Gudbranson, and Tryamkin, leaves more in the tank for Edler, who was seriously depleted before his injury late last year.

Claimed, absolutely 100%.  We should be guessing which team?  I see the Leafs, or Coilers.

i guess we shall see in a couple of hours. i think he will get claimed as well. there's bound to be a team that needs a big, mobile, young dman. Pedan is only 22. and it takes dmen longer to develop no? i don't understand the logic of Benning and staff. Biega is the career journeyman. but we exposed a 22 year old dman instead? this probably has more to do with expansion for Vegas than it does with Pedan.

Possible but doubtful IMO.

Benning just may have played this very well. Pedan was placed on waivers the same day the Islanders waived Scott Mayfield a 23 year old 6'4" defenseman who is probably a little more developed than Pedan at this point. Mayfield likely has a higher probability of being claimed than Pedan.

I'm going to say he clears and it's for the same reason that the NHL is expanding next year. There is a glut of NHL caliber players that won't make teams this year and have been forced into the minors and overseas.

After next season's expansion draft there will be more room for these fringe players and Pedan would likely get picked up in that scenario, but I think this is an opportune time to get him through waivers. Hope I'm right.

At the Young Guns tourney all four teams had big young mobile defensman on their teams.  Only a team that has been eyeing him with take him.  If a dman can't crack the lineup of a 65 point team you think other teams want him ;-)

Maybe making mistakes on these waiver d, and losing them, contributes to a team only getting 65 points?
