I think we could only go after one of these guys though, and it's looking like Lucic, even though I would say there are better options. These are the Canucks I would look to resign: Hamhuis: Somewhere around 3 years and 3 million. (good chance) Cracknel: 2 years at 1.5 million (good chance) Baertschi: 2 years at 1.25 million (decent chance) I would resign Hamhuis, and it looks like he want to stay as well. In my opinion, Cracknell takes priority over Prust. Baertschi is a guy that we should be looking to for another 2 years in my opinion. Gaunce, Shinkaurik, Kenins and Cassels would be our prime call up candidates. I think we should try to get all of these guys back. So if we sign Demers, Lucic and all of the Canucks above, our lineup would look something like this next year: Sedin - Sedin - Hansen Lucic - Horvat - Virtanen Baertschi - McCann - Burrows Higgins - Cracknell - Dorsett Gaunce, Kenins, Shinkaurik, Cassels Edler - Tanev Hamhuis - Demers Hutton - Sbisa Pedan, Tryamkin, Biega Miller Markstrom We trade Higgins in the offseason and that's a pretty successful offseason if you ask me I hope you're right about Boedker, but the problem is, he'll probably want to stay in ARZ, and they don't have the inside track on anyone else of his calibre...so I'm gonna say that ARZ throws the bank at him (say 5.5mil x 5yrs)...it seems they're up against a wall for sure if he walks (they'll wanna lock him down). Kill penalties, battle in front of the net, hard on the fore check, trash talk, bite, kick, scratch... Not all positive implications but the point is the battle level. Vrbata just scores. I agree that we don't have a steady supply of pure snipers at the moment, but there's always gonna be scorers in free agency or in the trade market. He hasn't had much oppurtunity in the playoffs and I think deserves a chance to prove he doesn't choke in the playoffs. He is harder to replace than Burr and Higgy ie Gaunce Grenier Shinkaruk. I really think we give Rodin a shot next year. I'd say we remove one of Hansen or burrows and insert Rodin. He has a left handed shot but like to play rw. Also id keep Dorsett. Depending on how the rest of the year goes Virtanen to me next year might be best to spend some time in the ahl. Once he gets rolling. And if we're comfortable with Rodin and Virtanen. Then we can trade a Hansen/burrows (what ever one we keep) We also have to think about Baertschi, He's got the rest of the year to start showing some progress. If he does we can resign him, if he doesn't we need to think about giving some opportunity to shinkaruk. Start the season off with: Sedin - Sedin - Sutter Lucic - Horvat - Hansen Sven/Hunter - McCann - Rodin Gaunce- Cracknell - Dorsett But end the season with: Sedin - Sedin - Sutter Lucic - Horvat - Rodin Sven/Hunter - McCann - Virtanen Gaunce- Cracknell - Dorsett I also think our D needs a complete overall. I 100% game for trying to find a top 4 right handed D and using our current UFA and Edler as trading pieces. I've shown that I would like to go after Gudbranson. Next summer we can go after Yandle, Buff or even resign hammer (worst case scenerio) to replace him. Adding some scoring and grittiness with guys like Ladd, Lucic, Brouwer, Helm could make a huge difference for this team.
