Dan has had a couple of concussions hope he doesn't get another one. That was a brutal shot he took, really tough watching him laying on the ice. Get well Hammer.

He's also on record as saying that if he suffers another one, he's going to retire. Hopefully this isn't the case.

From what I saw, I don't think a concussion occurred. Hammer looked to be in considerable pain, (as a guy who has taken three pucks to the face in my playing days, I can commiserate) but he didn't look woozy.

He's going to be lost to the team for a while, but hopefully he'll make a full recovery and be back playing before too long.

Yeah I remember that, I think it was after he got smashed into the boards/glass by Getzlaf in 2011.

Wish Dan all the best. This will be along and painful recovery.

It didn't look like a concussion but considering he has gone on record as saying he would retire if he got another one, a seriously injury like this and a long recovery may just have him (and ,more importantly his family) thinking of packing it in.

Any updates would be appreciated.

What a nightmare. The way he was kicking the ice after he went down... i hope it's not as bad as it looked. And hope to see him back soon.

I think he was kicking the ice so that the officials and everyone on the ice could quickly realize how serious it was.  Looked like a two year old throwing a tantrum though lol, not that I am at all downplaying the severity of that injury.

Apparently he suffered a facial fracture, he'll be undergoing surgery. Timeline undecided as of yet.

Thanks for the update :)

He has a tough recovery and healing time ahead.... and hopefully anyone who feels the need to make a joke or off hand negative remark about Hamhuis will just zip their lip.

Wishing all good luck to Dan tomorrow and a speedy, healthy recovery.

Then why make such an idiotic response like that. ("Looked like a two year old throwing a tantrum though lol")???

He has a broken jaw & will probably be eating thru a straw for the next months. Nothing at all to be LOL at...

Terrible and unlucky break for Hammer. It was almost like he sensed something was enroute.
Might be his last game as a Canuck and even NHLer.

He's gonna have an awful month or 2.

Hopefully he gets world class health care and not the garbage I've seen lately in Vancouver and can be made comfortable while he heals.

Dans made enough money to be o.k down the road, ill support whatever decision him and his family make as far as retiring after this.

best of luck hammer.

I guarantee he was completely oblivious to anything going on around him.  He was kicking the ice in pain and panic.  been there, I know all about it.

As have I and I agree completely.

Those making jokes should volunteer to stop a puck with their face, just once. I'd wager they never joke about it again.
