Despite the fact that American Pharoah is not technically even a sports "person," but a horse? This question, while laughable to most, has been the subject of hot debate online today following SI's announcement that Williams – human tennis champion – had, in fact, been awarded the prestigious title. JV77
I think AP should win some athlete of the year the award. He is a once in a lifetime horse that won the first triple crown since 1978. We witnessed history in 2015.

Or if that's not enough, equine of the year? Or if that's not enough, horse of the decade? Or if that's not enough horse of the semi-century? American Pharaoh is going to have a pretty good life shaboinkin' a bunch of hot mares so I'm thinking he's going to eat, rest and fornicate like a freakin' boss for the rest of his life, so that's about as good as it gets for a four legged animal. But I'm no doctor, so I'm just talking out of my @$$ right now.
