Not being able to read the play and defend is not a slump, it is simply showing that you are not good. He was sheltered last year but not as much this year and the results are disastrous. how mnay times do you see him on an highlight of a goal agaisnt, just looking totally lost and useless? Your posts look lost and totally useless. Horvat looks like a 20-year old who was given a lot of responsibility in a short amount of time, and who will be be fine once Sutter comes back. He is an absolute mess, totally useless. Can't score (2 goals all year), can't defend (almost dead last in the league in +/-), you can't argue with those numbers. He looks like a 20 year old that does not belong in the NHL. How does that trade look like now: Schneider, one of the top goalies in the league, for an AHL player. He scored 12 in his sophomore slump. The fact that you find +/- as a reliable statistic is telling. This team is not good, and his linemates are not good. The sooner you come to this simple conclusion, the better.
SaintPatrick33
Well for one our wingers lack speed and we have a clear lack of offensive depth there. What do wingers do? They provide speed on the forecheck and keep defenceman honest. We have none of that right now so it is hard to make any center look good right now. Johansenn is a beast but like many have said, we do not have what the Jackets want.

Oh yes, Johansen, 21 points in 67 games, then 12 points in 40 game, and then they sent him to the AHL to develop and it certainly helped him. Note on thing, 12 points in 40 games is the same pace as 21 in 67 games, so no real step backt here. And I guess by pointing out Johansen you back my claim that Horvat needs to be in the AHL. Will he then develop like Johansen did?? Well unlike Johansen his point production is falling in his second year- not a great sign, and forget his terrible +/-, the fact is that he is often in the highlight packages looking totally lost while the other team socres. I see a total mess of a player there. His hockey sense is terribly limited. His skills are terribly limited. But he is a beast LOL
underrated
It's definitely worth asking COlumbus about the value. I'm sure every GM has. With the current play of Johansen, I think they'd be happy to get a guy like Edler for him, maybe with a prospect added in, but I don't think it necessarily needs to be McCann or Horvat quality. Maybe Shinkaruk. The problem is that leaves our D really weak. Edler, Sutter and McCann for Johansen and Murray? I know this will never happen, especially cause they won't waive their NTC's, but would you do a trade of the Sedins for Johansen and Murray? If you actually saw anything worthwhile, you would realize that Johansen is terrible and lazy defensively. Your crappy +/- doesn't tell that story. He's benched tonight, and it probably won't be the last time either.

Yes, I am sure that most people would agree with you that Horvat is a beast and Johansen a lazy player. Anyone who knows hockey as much as you do would agree with that. Horvat is a minus 2 again tonight because of his crappy linemates as usual. Stats don't mean anything with Horvat, the man is a beast. Personally, I wish he was a hockey player. So what is your point? This proves that Horvat is superior? Well, we lost 2-0 and he was on the ice for both goals against. Maybe we go to overtime 0-0 if Horvat is scratched?? I don't recall that being the main point of your idiotic argument. My very simple point is that Horvat is not an NHL caliber player right now. Will he ever be? No one knows for sure at this point. So, if it takes Horvat in a package to get Johansen, then i say, do it with no hesitation. Simple. And the fact that Johansen was scratched by Tortorella changes nothing to that argument. Hortankin
I wonder if this trade i came up with will catch their eye. To CLB: Sutter Virtanen Jensen To VAN: Johansson I threw Jensen in to add a piece and the guy needs a chance with another team. Sutter is a great defensive center and Virtanen is a very young skilled power forward. Would it be enough?
messier's_elbow
It would cost McCann, Tanev and our 2015 first. No thanks. They don't want Highins, Vrbata , Weber ect so stop throwing them in proposals.
Chaos Giraffe
To even be in the running for Johansen if Jarmo does indeed decide to move him I think you're looking at a package of Alex Edler, Bo Horvat and our 2016 1st Round Pick which I'm sure would still be bested by another team with better assets that Columbus covets. Knowing this franchise's luck the pick would turn out to be 1st or 2nd overall leading to Chychrun or Matthews anyways, so I really hope nothing develops on that front. bp79
its amazing how some people were so quick to shift off horvat.. you force a second year player into a role he is not rerady for. Give him every tough matchup every night, what did it take him to adjust? 2 months. I think its quite remarkable that a guy who played less then 10 minutes a night last year is now anchoring one of the most productive 2nd line sine January same with sven go back and read all the crap said about him. yet jb and wd both said he's doing the little things and will be rewarded. now people have moved onto jake sure he has had his struggles he has also only played in 30 games mostly with deadweight who are no longer here lets just chill him and mcann will be fine once they get there conditioning at an nhl level and they start getting more top 9 minutes
