only toronto has a lower ROW than the canucks

the canucks points totals are enhanced by having more loser points than any other team in the league . we have 8 .. next in line teams have 6, these extra points make the team seem better than it actually is

i think it the season is soon to be lost for the team . by game 40 the picture will become clear

then it will be time to check in every 5 games to see how the team is doing and what changes are being made

other than the sedins, and at times miller and hansen, this team is becoming unwatchable

i am drawn to watching movies on tv over the canucks this past while

It's not actually possible for everyone to go on a losing streak at the same time...

...but I do like the optimism and will re-iterate that the fun thing with the Pacific this year is we can all simultaneously spar for those 2-3 spots and still fall back on a decent lottery percentage if we fail!

Ya!

The fact that 1 point separates about 6 or 7 teams means that ANYTHING could still happen, don't lower your expectations yet. We are still very capable of putting a string of wins together when Sbisa, Hamhuis and Sutter returns to make things very interesting. As long as we can hum around this position until they return and try and keep it together without falling too far out of contention, I believe we'll be fine. Those other teams are more or less completely healthy - we're missing 3 huge pieces.

The Canucks can easily still make the playoffs and score a top-10 pick in the same draft. Unheard of, but that's the ideal situation and it's a strong possibility.

Don't the playoff teams get the last 16 spots in the draft no matter what?

Ummm what?  Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think this is how it works?

Yes they do. I think what Down Under is referring to is a situation similar to our last draft. The Canucks made the playoffs and drafted 23 overall. Benning being the good scout that he is picked Boeser.

When the Canucks had compiled their master list before the draft, they had Boeser at number 12. Benning had stated before the 2015 draft that, potentially,  there were 2 franchise players, 10 very good NHL players, and 14 good NHL players in this particular draft. So in effect, we played some playoff games and was still able to snag a prospect that they had rated number 12 and projects to be a very good NHL player. I am hoping for the same this year (except with a better playoff showing of course:P).

Lower expectations? no i had them at between 11-13 at the beginning of the year due to lack of depth and probability of a key injury or 2. They could still squeek into a playoff spot in this division but other teams like Coil and Lames are starting to put it together and Anaheim has like 3 games in hand, could pass us as well.

If you didn't do just that to start the season, not our problem.

We here at lowered expectations understand your limitations and that of your team.  Please, try not to shoot for the stars so often.  Your team is mired in suck, you suck.  And as such expect to suck.

If you embrace it you can mvoe on, otherwise please refrain from making threads about the playoffs if you must

I support the Canucks and hope for the best but the roster just doesn't make me feel confident in them. My thoughts are that if the Canucks are going to lose as long as I get my money's worth on effort, I'll ride shotgun on the bandwagon,

In my view this performance also should have happened last season, and it was a cushy schedule and a series of fraudulent wins that got us into the playoffs, only to be soundly beaten by a pathetic 'low analytics' team like Calgary, featuring a skinny 18yr old kid and some overhyped goon.

The coverage of that playoffs is what ultimately caused me to cut my cable for good.

Relax and lower expectations? Way ahead of you on that one, been doing that since the first game of the season. The playoffs at this point for this team is a fruitless endeavor. The Canucks are a first round knockout every time unless one of the other pacific division teams manage to suck more than they do for a week or two.
